    A. What difference does that make?
    B. I said:"Perhaps". Last time I checked I could not read minds.

Fair enough, I guess you can read minds.

I don't think he has a blatant disregard for human life, especially American life. Would he be convincing if he came straight out and said it (although he probabaly has). No, he is not the most convicing of people on the planet. He may however actually mean it.

Why should it worry me I am only English.

So you don't "buy" any of it?

Haha, they already got what they were trying to accomplish. An endless war in the middle east. The removal of civil liberties. Oh yeah, lots of money... they got that out of it too. And all of that is just a small piece of a big puzzle.

Well, none, but that's what you guys say whenever someone tries to talk about what's going on it England.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by this, but I'm gonna go with 'no'.

Have I ever said that to you? Nope.
Would I ever (to you or anybody)? Not unless you/they were attempting to talk like you/they had actually been here and witnessed something I had.

You said: "whenever I come across someone who buys into"
I was just wondering if you "bought" any of it or none of it.

Hm, haliburton? The patriot act? And the 'war on terror' will never end because terror is not a real thing that you can wage war on. All you have to do is tell everyone the terrorists are in the next country over... Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Syria... it's just going to keep going and if you can't see that you should, well, open your eyes maybe?

And what is boring, odon, the links you posted?

Listening and reading all that bollocks.
Did either one of them actually mean an "endless war" probably not.
Tit for tat politics - "war of words" - jerk offs being melons in audiences, that general thig. The second link should be re-titled "This presentation is a gross and deliberate distortion of the motives underlying both the war in Afghanistan and the one in Iraq" . Boring

Skeptic's Mag is yellow journalism, and the articles themselves are very egotistically written.

Their articles rarely ever present facts, and when they do, try to spin them into something else and ignore what the information actually means. Their writers aren't interested in truth.

    Incredibly biased journalism.

Rofl, I just realized that they used Popular Mechanics as a reliable source.

What do you call the loss of the right to due process.... habeas corpus?? Hello!! Have you even heard of that? Probably not, that's why you're cannon fodder for the military. Ever heard of the Military Commissions Act or the John Warner Defense Authorization Act?? Presidential Decision Directive 51 (PDD-51)??

    Ring a bell?

    Didn't think so

I definitely recommend checking up on what the Patriot Act actually says and allows, Rudenoodle. It's insane to see how these new powers are being used and old constitutional rights have been squelched.

For example, here is a list of recurring themes of the Patriot Act:

    1. Surveillance:

The ability of the government to collect evidence and information has been expanded. Much of this is accomplished by removing legal barriers. Many long-standing laws were altered to allow easier access to both E-Mail and voice mail messages. Items can be seized such as records, medical files and other items as long as the search is part of an investigation into spying or international terrorism (They can define terrorism on their own). Items do not need to be linked to a crime or criminal suspect.

    2. Coordination:

Gives federal prosecutors greater access to evidence from searches and wiretaps. Intelligence agents can conduct searching based on only a suspicion of spying or terrorism, and don't have to show that the target of the search is involved in a crime. So basically they removed restrictions that were amended during the 70's. These earlier restrictions were used to safeguard citizens from allowing the government to extract information about a political group or individual with the intention to use that information against them.

    3. Secrecy:

New surveillance powers allows the government to authorize and conduct searches in secret. For example, gag orders can be given to individuals and entities: this prevents the investigated from speaking up about the search. Never before has it been a criminal offense to not comply with an NSL (National Security Letter).

I cannot stress it enough how important it is to look at the big picture. When looking at the facts in this way, you can see a very clear agenda reaching towards its fruition. This agenda can, with perfect precision, be compared alongside a preexisting ideology. That ideology is often referred to neo-conservatism... although there are other names for it, forgot exactly what atm...

If Rudenoodle does not know anything about it, would it not be fairer to just post the Patriot act or atleast a neutral view of it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USA_PATRIOT_Act
Rather than add bias from the very begining.

What bias? Those are the powers that are given, even the FLE website acknowledges this. Also, my personal research into the Patriot Act included the wiki article and the Patriot Act itself. By all means, read the patriot act. The act itself gives the powers, so check up on that.

What I wrote was a non-biased approach to the powers that are given. I'm not making any of this up. I am no expert but it's pretty clear those are the powers that are given.

What about my writing is biased?

Those are the powers. If you want to get into an argument that the Patriot Act isn't being abused then that's a completely different story.

How many people have you known of that have been detained using the patriot act? Im guessing zero. You act like the suspension of habeas corpus is somthing new, It happens in almost every war.

By the way i'm not cannon fodder.

If it happens in almost every war does it make it right?

So, you have to have direct connections to someone that had their rights abused in order to prove that rights have been abused? There are numerous people and families that are coming forward with what the government has done to them. I don't have to know these people in order to recognize the fact that this is happening. This isn't only about detainees. It's about the government going into your home without you knowing about it, without them requiring probable cause for why they are searching...

Homeland security has a report that shows that there are ONE-MILLION people on the terrorist watch list. Many of these people, and Homeland Security itself admits this, are innocent Americans. Their reasoning for this is that many of these Americans share the same names as other terrorists, but personally I don't trust them, especially when they constantly refuse to relinquish any information about how they are using their powers. I am not asking that they show sensitive information that can jeopardize an investigation, just merely statistics and other tidbits. The information that WAS released was given to ACLU after ACLU went to court. The FLE later demanded that the report to be returned, the same report FLE already agreed on releasing. The ACLU also was put on a gag order until FLE backed down and dropped that... ACLU reported to say that they haven't experienced this type of treatment in 84 years...

Honest question: Do you honestly believe that I want to think this of our government? What would I get out of it? Why would I waste hours upon hours of research over something that has no barring with reality? Come on, man

I appreciate what you are trying to accomplish by going overseas, but I believe certain things just demand notice, otherwise it's dangerous.
