The more violence the police inflict upon the protesters, the more arrests, the more people come out to join them! The police CANNOT WIN against the people. The people have HAD IT with the power structure in this society dictating what we can and can't do. So go ahead, smash some heads and see what happens! If they haven't already learned from what happened in Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, they will soon. And they WILL CRACK DOWN! Although with the UNIONS now involved, they better watch out! Go ahead and crack the heads of a few longshoremen and see how the Teamsters react... As I have said before, if you know history, you know no movement will go anywhere without the support of unions, which have been busted ever since the Reagan admin decided to declare war on them so Corporate America could make even more profits.
Will someone PLEASE give this guy a MEDAL? I wish he would run for president! (but he's apparently too young) If this is the level of PASSION among the protesters, they've already WON! 178,000 have viewed this in just THREE DAYS! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFz1VVXsWRU"]Incredible Speech By Wall Street Protester "End The Fed" 2011 - YouTube
Looks like a SOAP Box routine. Goldman's Sax had the argument that people would invest money in their lack of interest in creating Jobs except for the private halp and renovations at home. They are suckers not to continue their life of self turning to selfish Interest. And it deserves to worry about rich man's concern for a peace of Mind. Everyone still remains embarrassed that self-interest is not such a Good idea any longer. These people's solution: we turn to collectivism.
I just want to say this: Nearly everyone, I think, can agree that something is seriously wrong with the economic culture in America and elsewhere. We will certainly have disagreements regarding the specifics, and I fully support these types of discussions, but the whole point we all need to remember is that we cannot let these petty differences cloud the movement. Divide and conquer is the game that all leaders have played since the dawn of civilization to prevent meaningful change from occurring. Liberals vs conservatives, republicrats vs demoblicans, rich vs. poor--IT'S ALL BULLSHIT. Those labels don't even matter, because no matter what you are, if you're in the 99% you're getting screwed every day, whether you realize it or not. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we can all agree that 1: corporations are not people, and do not have the rights of people and 2: corporate influence in Washington is appalling and needs to be reeled in. Someone here brought up the fact that we are all against corporations and we've ignored the corrupt politicians--actually, we haven't ignored them, because they are now ONE AND THE SAME. We can't call ourselves a democracy when no one who's not a millionaire has virtually no influence in government.

Jeffery Sachs - http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/10/07/us-books-jeffreysachs-idUSTRE7964EK20111007 Just spoke in the park and left copies of his book for the protestors to share...
--------------------------------------------------------------------- The moment union labor steps into this protest , It will instantly become a political left movement . Which to some degree it is already . This should remain an American peoples movement . Labels and politics will destroy it . It needs to get its feet under it first . It needs to grow and become a real movement first . Union labor will take over this protest . Because , they are the only ones organized enough , to lead it where they want to go . They have an agenda to push , their own agenda, and they will . They will try to organize protesters into their collective bargaining fold , for their dues money . It's a golden opportunity for them . Not to mention the violence level will increase ten fold . And that's not going to be good for anyone . Unions built the middle class . And the middle class destruction , is a direct result of declining union membership . America needs union labor , but not its corrupt "leadership " . We need a new labor movement . Because labor is dead in America ! United we bargain , alone we beg .
I was lucky enough to get to go to the protest in Portland yesterday. I thought it would be around 1- 2 thousand people but about 6 thousand people showed up. We met at the Waterfront then marched to Pioneer Courthouse Square and after an hour or so there, we marched to a park. There are still people camping and protesting at the park. The mayor has been pretty good about it, lifting a ban on overnight camping in the parks. Tomorrow there is an annual marathon going on and the finish line is the park that protesters are at. Should be interesting to see how its handled
Thanks for attending, sound like great turnout, going to the first large protest in Buffalo NY at noon tomorrow :2thumbsup: Very excited to see America finally waking and hitting the streets to take action. Please, anyone reading this, get out and make your voice heard. There are protest all over the country, go and attend one, make your concerns known. This is a special time in history, indeed its our last chance to create a better world before we are all swallowed whole by greedy corporations. Dont be the one who when their grandkids ask what their part of the movement was, have to tell them you were watching tv or did not feel like participating.
I'm so glad to hear that some of us are hitting the streets! I'm not able to walk long distances or stand up for long periods so do a little extra for me!!!
