I went to an Occupy the Member of Parliament protest a couple times. You gather and attempt to occupy the office of a parliamentarian. It sometimes ends with the MP embarrassed and scheduling a meeting to seriously discuss the issues, and other times it ends when the MP call the Police and they arrest people. It's a public servant you are dealing with. So they're kindda obligated to listen to what you have to say.
Today a contingent of young students from NYC schools, called the Children's Brigade joined the OWS protests in Foley Square. Reports say the Children had a calming influence on everyone just when things were getting tense between the protesters and the police. Teachers organized the children and felt it important for them to participate in the action today, because this is their future being decided on the streets... So what do you thing of children being present at these events? Do you think their presence would act as a break on the police beatings?
If done correctly it's okay, but they certainly can't be used as a "shield"..... Obviously that's not what was done in this case. I'm just saying that when things start looking bad don't "send in the children". Of course that's how Faux news will report this anyways.......
