Today's Guardian reports the following: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/oct/26/occupy-oakland-veteran-critical-condition?newsfeed=true
These fotos from Oakland were posted on Facebook by: Democracy Watchdog Action Network http://www.************/profile.php?ref=profile&id=744025479#!/democracy.watchdog.action.network One of the protesters stuck this sign on the police barricades at Occupy Oakland. HOW TRUE!! "Occupy Oakland...ANOTHER Rubber Bullet Wound...to a peaceful protester--UGH" "On the streets in Oakland tonight. Canister of smoke? gas? whatever....fired at the peaceful protesters. Some protesters were hit in the head with these and injured. One unconscious." Occupy Oakland protester injured--->>>Rubber bullet to the head. This is DANGEROUS action by OPD!! In reality, it could have killed him! I personally worked in rehabilitation with people who sustained long term brain injuries from less. A blow to the head like this can very easily cause a brain bleed which can lead to death. I hope he gets a brain CT Scan done!
I just posted this on my facebook page and Occupy Toronto's page http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/oct/26/occupy-oakland-veteran-critical-condition?newsfeed=true Edited to add; I just learned something new... if you want to link to a particular post on facebook, click the time it was posted, as in where it says '12 minutes ago' or however long ago it was... it is a direct link to that specific post. The Oakland police are a gang of thugs. And they've hired out mercenary cops from surrounding towns to attack peaceful citizens. Disgusting. No wonder we used to call them pigs...
The guy who got hit by a gas canister (or whatever) last nite, was on the ground bleeding. He was being helped by about half a dozen people when the police shot another gas canister right in front of them all, and they were not far from the police and presented no threat to them. Who are the police protecting? I found some video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X00Y-ht1UZI"]Occupy Oakland Protestor Injured; Many Hit With Flashbang by Oakland Policeman - YouTube
Here's a pic of Scott Olsen, the Iraq War Veteran who lies in critical condition in the hospital thanks to the Oakland Police who hit him with a gas canister fired from just feet away...

Best wishes go out to Scott Olson, I hope that he recovers back to 100%. Total criminal act committed by the thugs known as the Oakland PD. Here is a vet who made it through at least a tour fighting in a bullshit war for his country only to be attacked by the very people who swore an oath to protect and serve. Criminal charges should be levied against all police participants, fucking disgusting.
It's up now. They're calling for a general strike for workers and students. They want to shutdown the city: Liberate Oakland, Shut Down the 1% GENERAL STRIKE & MASS DAY OF ACTION Wednesday November 2, 2011 For more info: http://www.occupyoakland.org/
I was watching tv set in a coffee shop when I overheard someone saying. When I said "what are you going to accomplish sitting on your ass drinking coffee? He was going to argue with me, when someone with me shook there head, kinda a sign not to get started with me. :2thumbsup:
I just heard this announced in the Occupy Oakland General Assembly: Egyptians to march from Tahrir to the US Embassy in Cairo on Friday to denounce US police brutality, show solidarity with US demonstrators.
I'm not so sure about a strike of students. It would make more sense for professors to declare open houses, and invite the general striking public to their classes. Knowledge is power, and assuming you don't have a right wing professor, skipping class will hurt you, not the 1%. (yes, I know, someone will say you don't need a diploma to be a learned person, etc.... of course not, but that still doesn't mean you should blow off school, hopefully the main reason, or at least A main reason, that you'd go in the first place is to better yourself, not for a piece of paper)
Mayor Jean Quan (who is Chinese-American) is back in town. (as an aside, the street signs in front of City Hall are in English and Chinese) Scott has come out of his induced coma and has no memory of Tuesday night. His skull was cracked by the canister. Pity the police don't see themselves as the 99 percent. Tents are back up. Still tense, but quiet so far. We hear SF is in a holding pattern. I wonder if SF Mayor Ed Lee and his advisors are watching Oakland or if they have a plan to surprise O-SF protestors.
