Wow, I missed this. Sorry to see that Robert Redford had died but I am glad that he had led a long life. Hope he will bring new artistic creations in his next life as well. Found an interesting article on him... The many lives of Robert Redford - The Tribune
Pauline Collins, wite of John Alderton and the star of Shirley Valentine has died aged 85. She and her husband often worked together on screen. I remember watching "My wife next door" as just one example of their collaborations on TV.

Geez, another one. Son of comic legend Carl Reiner and one of the leading humanitarians, liberals, director and actor.
Rob Reiner appeared in a couple of episodes of the Gomer Pyle TV show in the 1960's. He appeared briefly with Gomer in a night club scene pestering Gomer with questions about life in the military. In a 1969 episode 'Flower Power' he had a more involved role as the hippie 'Moondog'. Sgt. Carter thought he would get punished by his superior because a group of three hippies moved a communications truck because it had been parked over a patch of flowers. They painted it with flowers and a peace symbol. His superior ended up commending him for (in his perception) the fantastic disguising of the truck as a hippie van so that the enemy wouldn't think is was a military vehicle. Leigh French was the hippie girl in the Gomer Pyle episode. She was a semi-regular player on the Smothers Brothers TV show in the 1960's. She and Rob Reiner were writers for the counter-culture show that aired opposite the traditional Bonanza. She was known for her sketch 'Sharing Tea', a phrase, along with others, that would sneak past the censors of the TV network with whom Tommy Smothers would quarrel, which eventually led to the cancellation of the show.
