The BP oils pill was another bullshit lie from the government, I spent 12 years as a control systems engineer and the solution they eventually used came from me. That said, a thousand other control systems engineers would have come to the same conclusion, with just 5 minutes of thought. "Use a butterfly valve!!!!"

Seems they didn't want it fixed, another 9/11 then. If you doubt this, just ask yourself this question. You have millions of gallons of oil pouring out of a hole, the ultimate nightmare, do you:-
a) Think about it for 4 weeks and then ask one company to build one crappy steel cap that couldn't possibly work against the huge flow. Take 8 weeks to build it and sit on you hands until it is ready. After it fails you do the same again, hoping the next solution works. Or....
b) Immediately commission 100 of the top companies, give them each $2m design budget to manufacture their own solution and have them all ready to go, so you can pick the best?
