I don't think that is true. Native American women were threatened that, if they had more children, they would be denied welfare benefits. The Indian Health Service also repeatedly refused to deliver Native American babies until their mothers, in labor, consented to sterilization. Many Native American women unknowingly gave consent, since directions were not given in their native language. According to the General Accounting Office, an estimate of 3,406 Indian women were sterilized. The General Accounting Office stated that the Indian Health Service had not followed the necessary regulations, and that the “informed consent forms did not adhere to the standards set by the United States Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (HEW). That is a bit of a stretch to suggest it was to: create the perfect human race
The problem with your "logic" is that while times have changed, tyranny (the reason for our 2nd Amendment) is still around. Also, to argue that people had different weapons and, therefore, assault rifles cannot possibly be protected by the 2nd Amendment is just silly. By that "logic" our freedom of speech shouldn't apply to things said/posted on the Internet, on TV, Radio, etc.... Those things, after all, didn't exist at the time the 1st Amendment was written and so they couldn't have possible meant it would extent to those mediums. Do you see the hypocrisy in your stance? No time in civilized countries? Really? Less than 100 years ago so called "civilized" countries in Europe were fighting civil wars and putting down violent rebellions. Again, who says then entire US military, with their bombers, tanks, and attack helicopters would side with the government in such a scenario? Hell, the Taliban seems to doing a good job of holding on with the same types of weapons that are legal to own in the United States. Granted, almost every time they stand and fight they are fucking slaughtered, but that is why they don't do it that often.
If you were talking about me in the comment about a complete ban..that's not what I said or what I want.
here's the thing nothing is impossible people plan for what is possible but lately it seems like that planning has spread a lof of fear and judgement and irrational behavior (out in the world and online) It's ok to do wahtever you feel is right for you and yours but people need to look at alllll sides of the coin before they flip it and let it land one way or the other. I would think that these issues need careful consideration by all people since it has to do with our rights and the safety of all people. I'm tired of people flipping out being dumb. example=> a man near here walking around in front of a grade school now swinging a rifle over his head... gets arrested and he says " I think the kids are in danger and I'm here to protect them." He isn't thinking that maybe by his dumb ass being there swinging a gun he's a target to be shot at by someone else protecting the kids from him maybe...putting all in danger...or maybe that he may be frightening a child on accident!! I'm tired of people not taking others into consideration in so many aspects of this. It's out of hand
There's a difference between tossing around a rifle in front a school and putting one inside a gun safe in your basement.
Maybe saying the United States' eugenics program was intended to create the perfect race was bit of a stretch. I'll admit. HOWEVER Nobody can deny the eugenics studies taken place in California had no racist intentions.
That was an illegal practice that took place 100 years ago. How does it relate to the possibility of an assault rifle ban?

I heard somewhere that the NRA proposed to resolve the gun/shootings prob by themselves!!! How? By giving each and every American headmaster, janitor, school staff member, etc. a gun to protect themselves in case of a shooting in school!!!!! I think these guys don't sleep at nite to come up with such bright ideas!!! [I add: why not give guns to the kids at school too so that they can "protect" themselves]!!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate compare the states to canada. sure, some people might be able to smuggle guns in. but guns being illegal will only make the innocent more safe. and btw, to people talking about nut jobs control, but you are scared of a goverment take over and think your guns are somehow protecting you from the govevernment. you are the nut job
^Fail Canada ranks third (behind US and Norway) in LEGAL gun ownership. It's estimated that 20,000,000 firearms are LEGALLY owned by 7,000,000 Canadians.
How is that a fail? If Canada has a high per captia of gun ownership AND have a low gun death rate, then doesn't that somewhat speak in favour for their regulated system?
Yes, it does. It does not however, speak in favor of banning all guns as was mentioned. Pickle made it sound like firearms are illegal in Canada and that's why they have a low gun death rate.
