growing up in colfax, i always wanted to move to grass valley, nevada city, north san juan, all up in through that area; nevada county. never have had the good fortune to though. and now i'm stuck down here in damd hot roseville. you have no idea how i wish i was living up there in nevada county somewhere, or sierra county or alpine county. you know what's missing though? from the 1840s to arround 1941, there used to be a little narrow gauge railroad between colfax and nevada city, called the nevada county narrow gauge railway. they scraped it for metal for wwII, but the right of way was still intact when i was growing up in colfax. i used to walk it all the time. i even walked all the way once. sure was glad i got a ride back though. 22 miles one way. longest i ever walked at one time. all the traffic on highway 49 up from auburn, they really need something like that now. except of course it'll have to wait till people stop worshipping the automobile. but that day will come. they do have a bunch of little busses up this way, and that's good. placer and nevada county both have bus systems. as do the towns of roseville and auburn. that's the one good thing in roseville we do have. other then you can also take amtrak and the capitols down to san jose and various connections along the way down that area. =^^= .../\...
