hey everybody. i moved to chapel hill recently and need to find some cool folk around the chapel hill/raleigh area or at the beach. . .or in the mountains. . .whatever just anybody in nc hit me up.
Hey everyone, I'm looking for some help. My boyfriend and I are trying to move to Raleigh, Duham RTP area. He is a computer geek, but for some reason he is having a hard time finding jobs down there? What's the deal. At first we thought it was because we are from up north trying to relocate (no we don't expect anyone to pay relocation) but then we thought that maybe something else is going on since we've heard that most people in that area are transplants anyway. Any advice?
I work in RTP, and would think that there should be plenty of jobs... you might want to consider going through one of the bazillion temp agencies as a temporary thing while looking for something a little more permanent. Kelly Services is one of the better one's, and they have special branches, one of them for technical (computer geek) people. Also, he could try going directly to one of the bigger companies, like IBM, Nortel, MCI, Glaxo, SAS, NIH, Merck, RTI, Roche, etc... there's so many companies based around RTP, and there's nothing really going on that I've heard of... if you have something more specific in mind that he's looking for, let me know.
Hey everyone, we are on our way in a couple of weeks now. Should be in town July 17th for a visit, and perm July 31st. Is anyone here near Wake Forest? I will be looking for a yoga studio and a place to take some salsa lessons at, and a volleyball league, does anyone have any recommendations? And a good bar near Wake Forest too. Oh yeah I almost forgot, I looked on Ticket bastard, but I can't figure out where I would catch some good shows in town. I mean don't big names come there? I was hoping to take in one more concert this summer and I wanted to do it down there as Jersey/Philly are getting old to me. As far as genre, I like everything except for country (I know I'm moving to the wrong place). But I even like Bluegrass, just not dumb country. Thanks guys!
i live like 15min from wake... ziggys isnt bad..some of the local stuff there is kinda shitty...but you can go here and look for some clubs and shit near there.... hope that helps... oh and you can always look for the places in charlotte and greensboro i know warped tour will be here at some point
Wake Forest the town or Wake Forest the university? The town is north of Raleigh, the university is in Winston Salem... I don't know much about the Winston Salem area (tho I have been to some good parties at Ziggy's ironically)... but the town I know alot about. There's a ton of yoga studio's in Raleigh (about 20 minutes south of wake forest)... which style do you want to practice? My room mate used to instruct and knows most the studios in our area... There's no shortage of music between Raleigh and Chapel Hill... Pour House, Berkely Cafe, and the Cat's Cradle are my favorite venues....
Thanks Fulmah! You have been a big help to us. As far as yoga, I'm not sure. Maybe something that couples can do together. My boyfriend just mentioned it out of the blue the other night that he would like to learn how to do yoga, and I have some books and fool around myself but I have no idea what I'm doing. Thought it would be nice to actually have something to do together (we don't have a whole lot in common, hobby wise though it hasn't hurt our relationship in 6 years). I meant Wake Forest the town. We are pretty sure Jeremy will be working in the RTP, not sure for which company yet as he has a couple of prospects right now, but nothing is set in stone yet. Our realtor found us a lot of townhouses out in Wake Forest and we didn't make it over there on our last visit (unless we drove through it and didn't even know it). I heard the area is pricey, but rental wise it seemed to be the same as anywhere else in the triangle. Less than Cary and Apex that is for sure! Can you tell us about the crime down there. I was on the city data forums and those people are absolutely out of their minds (I think). They are saying how crime ridden Raleigh is and such, and how we shouldn't go out at night. And they were saying the ghetto is over by Peace college (where I was hoping to transfer to). I think thier idea of crime and ours is a lot different coming from the Northeast. I mean I have heard Durham is pretty bad too, but how bad is bad? I'm looking for honest help, not someone who wants to deter us from moving down there.
www.raleighyoga.com teaches Hatha yoga, their studio is nice and in an amazing location (five points, raleigh = lots and lots to do in the area) www.movingmantrayoga.com has awesome instructors, a huge studio and is close to wake forest If you're willing to come into Cary, there's a yoga place in almost every shopping center (seriously, they're everywhere) and a lot more classes are offerred. Peace college is in a semi bad area, but the campus is off by itself and safe as can be. Raleigh has 2 small parts of town where I wouldn't want my car to breakdown at past midnight. Other than that it's fine. Durham is another story, it's as bad as southeast DC (has one of the highest crime per capita rates in the country).
