^ Well there's a good answer. Yeah, in NY OPs have emerged but Original and Roxy is still around. Edited, but I don't know how long the original will be around, I know they are discontinued at pharmacies here.
The new formulation of these pills consists of BHT, polyethylene glycol 400, hypromellose, titanium dioxide, magnesium stearate and polyethylene oxide. If anyone was curious. Bolded is the most important part of their controlled release. I wouldn't bother trying to defeat the controlled release with common things you have in your household (razor blades, etc). Try a mortar and pestle, if that doesn't work you'll have to probably look into a chemical extraction. Part of the tests Purdue conducted was attempts to defeat the time release with readily available household items. So, either get something that people don't usually have in their kitchen (mortar + pestle) or think outside the box. PEG is what makes it difficult to crush and HPMC is what makes it gel when it gets in contact with moisture.
any solvent that melts plastic will work.. something from the PVC plumbing section of the hardware store.. im positive..
They tested how robust the anti-tampering mechanism in the new formulation was, by trying to defeat it with common household items.
Apparently it's been receiving mixed reviews... http://www.jointogether.org/news/headlines/inthenews/2010/health-officials-unimpressed.html Someone will come up with a way to beat it. Guaranteed. http://www.justice.gov/dea/images_oxycontin.html
