Had the US not blindly followed cowboy hysterics after 09/11, we could possibly still be a world power. Today we are seen as a failing empire, wrapped up in patriotism and the false sense that all soldiers are heros, and all wars are winnable. We watched as the Soviets war with Afghanistan brought their empire down, but don't count them out they aren't in debt any longer, but we are.

Some people learn from their mistakes, or observing the mistakes of others, the US seems to be following the British Empire down same paths it chose and with the same justifications. Big Business! They allowed their manufacturing base to evaporate...just where does their income come from. They don't produce anything. And neither does the US any longer. As that base evaporated so did their empire.

 

Still can't fathom their agenda.
I see them discussing the issues like many other groups.
When they say "we have" I'd say they mean America or/and "the west"...not them (CFR).

What do you base that on...?
As far as I can see they are billions upon bilions in debt - owing 44billion to the Paris club alone.

 

I base it on the fact that their economy isn't in as much shit as ours is. We are worse off now than they were after their conflict with Afghanastan. We didn't even focus on Afghanastan after starting a war with them. And contray to common belief things aren't much better there, and our coalition of the willing has packed up and gone home. Pakistan is a mess, we are rattling sabers against Russian, and we can't even afford to pay the independent contractors that seem to keep this war going.

At least in Vietnam, we didn't have to cope with Blackwater and it's ilk. Now the taxpayers are paying over charges to Bechtel, Haliburton, KBR etc, and they have no oversiight. Accounting rules have been left out of the equation.

 

We are supposed to focus on abortion which was settled by the supreme court under Rowe vs Wade, but we are not supposed to focus on the waste and corruption in a war zone.

Hundred's of thousands of adult/elderly/children/infant civilian lives have been lost in these wars but we are supposed to focus on undifferentiated cells/embryos at the same time that we sanction captial punishment...life is either important always or it's not...you can't just protect the embryonic cells you have to consider all life.

And that should include protections for the old and infirm, and people like Terri Schiavo who couldn't protect themselves. MediCare patients shouldn't be restricted to only three days in the hospital...babies are easy to sell old folks aren't. Life is life, whether it be new or old.

 

Not my problem you can't see who's interest they have at heart.

If you want to paint Russia as second rate I wish you luck Napoleon and Hitler made that mistake as well.

 

I find it strange that the Western World is supposed to gather it's might against Russia because a building built for the importation and promotion of rock bands was bombed. But little media time is spent on the fact that Georgia fired first. The West should have rehearsed him better. It was pathetic. And Condi wasn't much more convincing than she was about Lebanon.

Show me that the Russian economy is with out debt.
Not your assumption the US is in a worse shape.
Well, even show me evidence the US is in a worse shape, if you like.

I don't think you appreciate the "focus" in Afghanistan because you are seemingly apposed to it.
It is easy to ignore something because you are apposed to it.
Rather leaving it in the state (in your mind), it was, not is.

Yes, some of our "coalition of the willing" has packed up and gone home.
Like I posted, because their task has been done.
We should be glad people are going home "mission accomplished" as it were.
This would be a sign of progress, not defeat.
Please show me evidence Afghanistan is worse now.

Look at the situation now.
A so-called ceasefire.
Peace and a possible resolutions.
No gathering of might is there, a resolution is there.
Albeit one through gritted teeth and teething problems.
Who fired first has been left to a few commentaries, true.
But think over why the party who fired first did so.
Think about if that actually matters.
Thik if it justifies the other sides actions.

You are making comparisons that are not there.
Or you are doing a poor job of doing so.
