is georgia that bad a place to live or are you just paranoid?Do you lock up your weapons so they're hard to get to when you need them or do you leave them out for the crackheads to steal when you're not home?

Georgia's fine, there are unsavory sorts any where one ventures these days. Paranoid? Not a bit. Being cautious does not make one paranoid." Keep 'em in mah rack in mah truck, silly boy."

 I'm a bit confused here. I beleive that "Gun Control" means, being able to HIT what you aim at! I'm confused about why we KEEP finding reasons to KILL each other????

    Hi,
Well my late Dad carried a 9 mm down in FLA and I carry a 38 up here. It's a matter of one's personal situation amd the first thing they told us in the CC class was that "if you fuggup with this one you will be meeting a fellow named Bubba." I think CC is a good idea and the science backs me up-this from a lifelong Democrat.
    Best wishes,

Well I'm probably one of the most peaceful people you'd ever come across.
Don't bother no one, would rather back away than have a confrontation.
    I'm low key.
I live in a little handbuilt house in the woods, with a big garden, a compost toilet, a 20 year old truck,a dog, cat, husband and 2 guns.I'm almost 47 and my sweetie is almost 60.

We go to town once a week and to a larger town once a month.
We keep to ourselves although if you need a helping hand we're there.
I love to feed people, and love to see young people come across their passion.
    I love..love.

But if anyone came out here to hurt me, or my family then they have to realize "your rights end where mine begin"....you have made the choice to walk into my life and wherever that may take you is where you will end up.

I wish I could view the world through some rose colored glasses, I used to...It would be wonderful if everyone respected others and left them alone to pursue their own happiness...but thats just not the way it is....there's this thing called reality that forced me to remove those glasses...there are people out there who would just as soon kill you because you only had a few bucks they could steal....
There are more and more home invasions....how about your mom and dad sitting in their living room watching Jeopardy when all of a sudden the door is kicked in and 3 big burly methed out idiots bust in and beat them to a pulp.

Maybe if more people hadguns in their homes and these idiots started hearing about other idiots getting blown away because the robbed the wrong house....they thought twice about fuckin with other people.

I would never raise a gun in anger, or to show that I'm tough...I'm not tough...but I'm not ignorant either.

I am brokenhearted at the way the "peace and love movement" we tried to start, got run over by the "gonna git mine now, don't care who i take out" movement.

Out here there is the county sheriff and very few police, they stay in the small towns and cities...if anything were to go down you have to be prepared to deal with it yourself.

    Good morning Teepi!

,,,and they all have guns too.The manufacturers don't only make guns available to the good guys, they'll sell them to anybody. It's another cold war based on paranoia. They play both sides of the fence.Works out pretty good for them.I don't buy it we need to stop this cold war and practice peace. As for rose colored glasses,i haven't worn them since the early 70's and man did i look cool.

    Good morning to you GATEY!!!!!

Yep, your right, those sum bitches will probably have guns too...and where would that leave me if I had none???...with out a fighting chance I'd say.

Don't know any stats...but betcha most of those guns are illegal.

Yes, you can't control everyone. Assholes will go to Wallys and buy a gun.
People like me will go and buy one also.

Yes we need to stop the cold war and practice peace....but I'm not the one that needs to be told.
Tell the criminals that....but I'm just not so sure they will listen.
When they pick up a gun they have a criminal intent...when I pick up mine I will be defending myself against that criminal intent....or target practicing.
    Thats the bottom line...INTENT.

Sure would be nice if I could be sure that everyday in my slice of paradise would remain as I have tried to make it...a peacefull little oasis, that others would respect and enter with love in their hearts.
But we all have to be responsible for the choices we make. And if someone makes the choice of coming here without that love as motivation, then they have to be prepared to accept the consequences.

I would NEVER want to hurt anyone.
I would never go looking for a fight...gun fight or any other brand.
But its just getting wilder and crazier out there and we do need to be aware of that.
I pray that it would never ever happen, that no one would ever put me in the position of having to make a decision between them or me. I have tried to make good Karma after a rocky start in life.
But I also believe that we all have to be held accountable and responsible for the choices we make...thats how we learn.

If you choose a life of crime, and your constantly hit over the head with a cosmic 2x4(your conscience) and you ignore that, then your slapped on the wrist for petty theft and your not held accountable, you will continue.

If you go to jail and all your buddies are there (because all your buds are criminals too) and its like old home week, then you don't mind going to jail so much. Hell, alot of these idiots wear jailtime like a badge,,,slang in some areas is "I went on vacation".

Some in the younger generation also think its fine to degrade women. Young women are "proud to be a bitch"...I see this on tee-shirts.(this is just one example of accepting degredation)
    The tides are turning.
    I am sad.

Its hard when we just want the best for others, and we want to see kids grow up respecting each other and the earth.
There are alot of great kids out there....I've met quite a few here.
And we see so many who lose faith in themselves and hope for their future.

I'd love to save the world...but there's something in the air these days, and it don't smell so good.
Thats why Larry and I moved back to the land as far as we could...our bigger dream is to go out west to the mountains in Idaho and live out our days.We have a dog and an alarm system....we target practice so everyone around here knows we have guns.
We live on a dirt/gravel road WAY OFF the beaten path. Half our road is closed during alot of the winter because its so dangerous, so we know the cars of all our neighbors and we know strangers cars.

We just want to be as peaceful as we can......without being sitting ducks.;)

    Los Alamos whistleblower beaten up
    Police, FBI investigating attack

Tommy Hook, a whistleblower at Los Alamos National Laboratory, is seen in a Santa Fe, N.M., hospital on Sunday, after being beaten up by a group of men outside a bar, an attack his wife and lawyer believe was designed to keep him quiet.

SANTA FE, N.M. - A Los Alamos lab whistleblower scheduled to testify before Congress about alleged financial irregularities was badly beaten outside a bar — an attack his wife and lawyer believe was designed to silence him.

[IMG]Police and the FBI said that they were investigating the circumstances of the incident which, according to his wife, left Tommy Hook hospitalized Monday with a broken jaw and other injuries.

Police Deputy Chief Eric Johnson said officers found Hook after responding to a reported assault at the Cheeks Night Club about 2 a.m. Sunday. He provided few other details.

“We are working jointly with the FBI, trying to determine what may have happened and what the assault may have stemmed from,” Johnson said. FBI spokesman Bill Elwell described the agency’s inquiry as preliminary.

Hook’s wife, Susan, alleged the assailants told her husband during the attack: “If you know what’s good for you, you’ll keep your mouth shut.”

Tommy Hook and another whistleblower sued the University of California in March, alleging that after they uncovered management failures, university and lab managers tried to make their jobs miserable so they would quit.

Hook, a former internal auditor who now works at another job at the lab, had been scheduled to testify before the House Energy and Commerce Committee later this month.

    Left for dead
According to Susan Hook, her husband received a call late Saturday from someone wanting to meet with him at a bar. She said her husband told her the man never showed up, but that as he was leaving the parking lot, a group of men pulled him from his car and beat him.

“They left him in the parking lot for dead,” said Tommy Hook’s lawyer, Robert Rothstein.

Rothstein said the assailants didn’t take Hook’s wallet, other personal belongings or car. Without any other motive, it appears the beating was related to his whistleblowing, Rothstein contended.

Susan Hook said her husband did not frequent bars.

Los Alamos lab spokesman Kevin Roark called the beating a “senseless and brutal act and should not be tolerated.”

The lab and UC also issued a joint statement decrying the violence. “Director (Robert) Kuckuck, the University of California and the laboratory believe that any form of physical violence toward an individual is unacceptable,” the statement read.

Hook had been voicing complains about lab management for years. He testified in a 1997 deposition that the chief of the lab’s audit division “didn’t want to see certain things put in reports,” including “unallowable costs” and “embarrassment to the university.”
