If you have not heard of him, allow me to introduce you to an interesting guitarist & singer-songwriter named Mdou Moctar. He is from Niger, of Tuareg ethnicity. His music is loud electric guitar psychedelia I suppose, but the song structures are based on Tuareg music. The band is 4-piece, a rhythm guitarist, drummer and bass player, the latter being a white boy from NYC. Mdou says some radical stuff in his songs, which are mostly in Tamasheq but to some extent in French. "Afrique victime, de tantes crimes..."
