I dunno man... I don't think I'm gonna be much help. I've known most of the same people for many years and I haven't incited any sort of change in their stubborn minds about anything significant

But, have you tried to show them insight? That's what really matters, cause you can't make everyone peaceful. No matter how much you try.

didn't mean to hijack the thread

you can't really change someone's mind

you can live well, do right, and open people's eyes to what you think

    show love

    live meaningfully

    do right

    STAND UP

    make change

    speak out

I personally wish to nominate Zoso_4 up for election to be our leader. His "from the heart statement" is awe inspiring. I only wish that I could have put it forward in the way that he did.

Plus, he's a young guy who can say stuff about his generation, that I would never say because people would think me as being very rude. And far worse.

    Brother man, you rocked it.
Please everyone go back one page and read what he wrote. Cool. Thanks all.

Yes, this is a beautiful thing here. We are a core group, a family, a tribe, a club. Whatever term that you like. We're together.

The point is well taken. Can or can't we do this on the Internet? Or would we need to join together in one place?

Both are true. Yes, of course we need to all join together in one place. Yes, we can do what we can do on the Internet.

There are things that we can do on the Internet. Lets find out what they are and then do them. Why not. Just like back in the 60s this here is all experimental. So what the heck. Let's experiment. Why not. We're a whole new world.

Later down the road, perhaps we will all choose to be together. I mean in the same place together. If we are free spirits in a free world, then why can't we? Should we choose to do it, we will save up and just do it. That is for us to choose. Even those of us in another country can be sponsored by us for a Visa. We can do anything.

The first hurtle is done. We are a group. Like I said before, if we are 10 to 20 people and are for this, we are a real working start. Totally functional.

    I'm proud of us.

Let us try not to use the word re vo lu tion . Me being an old guy who saw the Berkeley riots first hand and who watched Kent State and the Chicago riots on the news, like the rest of the world did, I would prefer that we skip that term. Using it is a great way to get a new F.B.I. file opened up in your real name. Trust me. I know first hand.

Social re vo lu tion perhaps. But there is still a risk. Seriously, there is a value to asking and to listening to old hippies. Learning how to stay off of the ra dar is one of them. It's called smart.

Social m ovem ent, perhaps. Moo ve ment not a good idea.

I am hoping that you are seeing my point.

Ove rt hro wing the Go Ve rnm en tof t he uni tedst ates. Not a good thing to say publicly here on the Internet. I do hope that you are all seeing my point. :)

Let us all start small, and later change the world. Start us first.

Lets pretend that there's about 20 of us and we are a commune. Lets pretend that we do live together. Let's pretend that we have or rent 3 or 4 big houses with bedrooms. One in the country (anywhere, you imagine.). One in a city in another country (you dream the Name of country). One in a city that's kind of cool (Let's say San Francisco, or someplace.). And if there's enough people in our commune to have a fourth big house (Then any city, country or in a County that you like. Me I like Port of Spain, Trinidad). Never been there, but I hear that they have one heck of a Carnival.

Let's pretend that we get to know each other because we've just moved into a big house with some others that we like, from our Internet discussions. We live with each other for a time and get to know each other well.

Let's pretend that we can also get to know each other by going to the other houses and by crashing there for a while. Swapping our bedrooms basically. Staying for a long time, if we like.

Let's say that it's all very experimental and we like it a lot.

Now let's say that in each place we (our house and us) become the hit of the neighborhood or the city. We're IT. We are having so much fun and so much "the Life" that others want to get with us and want to be a part of IT. Let's pretend the IT is just us being REAL and not bull shit. Super REAL with each other. And there's too much fun going on wherever we hang out. And our fun is REAL.

We attract others by being REAL, Fun, and Us, and IT. It's Easy. You just first have to decide that that is what you want. And Then you have to decide to live it. Not to do it. But to change you, and to live it. You SEE?

Let's be us. Lets' experiment. Let's all just make it up as we go along.

    tuesdaystar, I hear you.
"you can't really change someone's mind." But you can open one's eyes.

I kind of feel like Plasticfantasticlover is actually trying to say the same thing as you are, only it's coming out differently. However influencing anyone else is difficult, at best.

Let me dance you guys back to the 60s.

I don't really think that people talked other people into stuff back then. Becoming their friend may have helped. But basically I think that things spread in the 60s because basically people like to have fun.

People saw fun and wanted to live that way, too.
Basically things grew and expanded so much in places like San Francisco and the life style was so very very different that regular people hated it and young and hip people wanted to get with them an learn about what was up and to have fun. I feel that that was the big draw. Fun. A whole new scene. Sex drugs and Rock and Roll. Mystic stuff. Experimental living stuff. Being different. All of that.

I feel that learning and being the newest big batch of Fun, in a world where nobody else is having any fun, is the best was to attract other to the fun and to the headspace of us.

    Just a thought. LOL

If I actually observed some sort of organized movement to better society that genuinely fit with my ideals of what a "good" organization would look like, I would join them and rally for the cause.

However, I have yet to see such a thing. People tend to form their own opinions and keep them to themselves, so there isn't any way for an organized movement to start. People are too afraid to tell their friends what they REALLY feel about society, so the conversation never even starts! I have a group of maybe 5 close friends, and we generally share the same ideals. The problem is that none of them tell their "cool" friends (yes, I am 23 and my friends still are concerned with that type of shit) their inner thoughts. I, personally, am very introverted, and live on my own, so I rarely even encounter anyone to share my ideas with.

It is frustrating, but until people stop trying to keep things "Politically Correct" (regardless of what actual political views you have...) and polite, then no movement will take hold IMO.

    etkearne,

You are welcome to make us your home.
We haven't really discussed ideals, here. Not as of yet. It's a pretty open field. Me personally, I would much rather keep it fairly wide open and experimental, open to many people's feelings, ideals, hopes and dreams.

So far, of the people who have come here a few have stated peace and world peace. Other are expressing their frustration at the nothingness of the life that it going on right now. And of their generation. I think that this covers the core sentiment here so far. People wanting something to happen. Anything to happen. Me? That's what I want "people" and "something to happen". To me just that would be one heck of a start. Far better than the "frustration at the nothingness of the life" now. This is my cause, my sisters and brothers. "People" and "something to happen". The rest will follow.

The original hippies had tons of different ideas and ideals. Dicing it up into different little groups is a part of what killed the whole thing.
Please read my story that tells of how the first hippies were broken up and ended. It's on page 4.
Titled: What are the shades and the colors of united?
    http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=427582&page=4

I was very introverted. A friend got me into drama classes in college when I was 20 or 21. There I learned to Act extroverted first. Slowly I chose to become actually extroverted. A huge break through in my life. All of this because of pretending and make believe.

And this is a part of how hippy experimentation really works. Pretending and make believe that some day becomes the real you. A real change in lifestyle. You.

You are as in charge of the ideals and a causes here just as much as any of us. Please make your list and we will get you and bunch of ideal people who totally match these ideals. On Hip Forums that should be ease to do. Show me a list, post it right here, and I'll help you to start a specific new thread for everyone who is a match. Truly, I'll help out.

Please note that: if you want to start something like "PETA veggie dikes who hate men and don't smoke pot" there are already several of those web site organizations on-line that can be found in a search. Can't help you with that one. Just because I don't smoke pot. LOL. Plus it all ready exists.

    Love, Kenny

Scorpio- I am very interested and excited reading you posts. Allow me some time and I will try to post a list like you described, and perhaps some collaboration amongst the others here can begin.

The vigor and zest for change is really lacking amongst my generation, and while i am no perfect example, I do feel like I want to break the mold.

Well that is my baseline here. People join together. Get to know each other and get tight. Start something and make things happen. Young, old, everybody in between.

My friend, your generation, the generation before yours, the generation before theirs', and the original Punk Rockers way back when. Been a long time. This is a part of why we all want to crank it up again. ON switch.

    :)

I hear what you're saying about joining together and not being splintered into little groups. I'd love to move to the states and join in a hippie commune, or at least a bunch of us living in an apartment (I'm not fussy!). Gonna have to wait until I'm at least 18 though, but as soon as I can I'm on that plane.

This kind of movement can only really begin to move when a group of people physically come together and start something. Whether it be through music, politics or philosophy, it can't be done exlusively over the internet. You can meet similar people over the internet, but it's not until you actually take to the streets that you learn their real conviction. Take the example of the revolts in Syria (I think). Thousands of people signed up over the internet to participate in a protest , yet when the day came nobody showed. I'm convinced that when a group of people gather together and make their voices heard, no matter how small a voice that initially is, people will eventually hear. Plus we have the benefit of the support, the wisdom and the experience of the original hippies to back us up. But it still has to happen amongst the youth of the world.

Oh, and I'm flattered by the compliments Kenny, but they're a bit undeserved. Anyone with enough time on their hands can say something on an internet forum that gets the blood boiling. It takes real balls to put your words into action.

    Peace and Love :peace:

i think we should start love bombing.

become modern-day johnny appleseeds and sprinkle flower seeds in every crack of the sidewalk. some will grow!

leave sketchpads and colored pencils all over for people to find and use.

stand on the corner holding a sign saying, everything really is all right.

    You're right.
Only two days ago, I wrote about the Johnny Appleseed thing over here in the (NEWS · Global Commission: Drug War Has Failed, Legalize!) thread.
    Check it. http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=428783&page=2

I just last week bought a big thing of colored chalk ($1.). Sidewalk is public art. More fun to share with all. Sketchpads and colored pencils are expensive. You can get a whole lot of Sidewalk Chalk for the price of colored pencils and pads.

I'm kinda older. Can I use my chase-lounge on the street corner??? Pretty Please?

Hmm. That's why I haven't jumped on this bandwagon. I'm looking for a bandwagon that's heading in my direction. If I see that yours is heading my way, maybe then I'll jump on. But I'm not interested in a ride in some random direction. I'm old enough to know that there are some places I do not want to go.

There are several more promising bandwagons in real life.

Okay, So everybody wants to know what we’re all standing for in the new and old hippie group.

So, then GOD came down to the mountaintop and with a bolt of lightening carved this in STONE.

    THE HIPPIE RULES

We are to all be into World Peace and stuff totally. You have free choice though. You can be into World Peace. You can be mostly into World Peace. You can be actively into World Peace. You can be passively into World Peace. You can be politically into World Peace. You can be philosophically into World Peace. You can be religiously into World Peace. You can be meditatively into World Peace and not lift a finger. You can be sort of into World Peace. You can be kinda into World Peace and do what ever you want. You can be into World Peace everyday but Tuesdays. You can be into World Peace if it’s convenient with everybody else in the world. You can be against World Peace.

You’re a hippie. You are free to choose.

GOD says that you have to LOVE 60s Rock n Roll and some folk music too, mostly San Francisco 60s Rock n Roll groups and their music.

GOD says that you all have to LOVE each other, except for some people, and the annoying people and the selfish and stuck up people, and anyone who tries to kill or rape you.

You can be into free love totally and openly play the field, and if you want to you can even fall in Love with multiple people at one time, or be faithfully married, or anywhere in between. Or you can abstain for sex altogether. God says check with your religion first.

You may not do drugs or do drugs as you please. It’s your personal risk with the law and your personal choice. We all already realize that if you do speed, crank, meth, heroin, or crack then there is a 90% chance that you steal from your friends. So we’ll all stay away from you.

Non-cigarette smokers must stay 150 feet away from any cigarette smokers, at all times if you mind their smoke and not bother them. They all have the free hippie choice to smoke. This will include any Native American peace pipe ceremonies using tobacco, as well. You're not allowed to whine and bitch about that either.

You may only eat peanut butter sandwiches if you have a glass of milk with it. The only exception is if you are lactose intolerant. No soy milk and peanut butter. It's an unnatural act and an abomination unto God. GOD says.

People who eat meat are not allowed to make fun of tofu or of anyone who eats tofu. Leave the veggies alone.

People who are vegetarians or vegans are not allowed to organize to make rules or laws that would take the freedoms away from any others who do something different than they do, like eating meat, butchering meat, or smoking, or anything else. This is known as Fascism and it is the opposite of FREEDOM.
    Hippies are all about Freedom.

People who live in the country are not allowed to have an attitude about those of us who live in cities and cities.

People who live in the cities are not allowed to have an attitude about those of us who live in the country and the country.

People who live in the suburbs, Why?

People are free to do whatever they want as long as it doesn’t hurt anybody. That includes emotionally, too, and especially.

Or we could just all get together and let ourselves all sort things out latter.

Like for instance the Hells Angels go and hang out in that corner and the people who meditate will probably all naturally gravitate over to the opposite corned.

That would be the natural way and be My personal preference. :sunny:
