It's funny I don't remember anyone doing a demographic poll before the hippy movement. I have a question.

"If there was a new happening hippie movement, would you be a part of it?"

If only those that answered affirmative to this poll made up this movement, how happening and "hippie" do you really think it would be?

Regarding the idea of trick questions.
"No, I'm an independent loner. Not a joiner."
This is Obvious. ALL HIPPIES ARE INDEPENDENT! No hippie in there right mind, joins a club. There would have to be an awesome reason for any hippie to join anything. However, I do Think that I am putting it out there. I RESPECT THESE PEOPLE.
THis Quadrant may just be the intelligent future leaders of the Future. It would have to be VERY REAL for any group or club to be worth joining. Groucho Marx said IT.

Way Back and When My friends in their commune had a monthly newspaper named, The Goddam Independent. Circa 68–74. Every human is independent. But some are sociopaths. And We Love them too. Sociopaths can be loads of fun. They help to make life much more exciting.

The Poll is completely unnecessary. It's a joke. This Forum allows for the creation of a Poll, So, What the Heck? I made a Poll. It's just Window dressing.

Do you think the last hippie movement was popular and happening right away? I don’t think so. The poll isn't all to accurate anyways. Like i've said i have friends who who are really into this but they aren't on hipforums. And im suremost of the people do to.

Can we find a community where spreading peace (a.k.a. neighbourliness) is encouraged? How can we make a living in such a community? How do we practice actually doing it, instead of just talking about it? Can we learn to get along with people we disagree with? That, after all, is what peacemaking means.

My answer is that you will never know until you TRY.
I’ve lived it, and it works when you WANT IT TO.

I've read this numerous times and it has been attributed to everyone from George Carlin, to Kurt Vonnegut, to the Dalai Lama:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but
shorter tempers, wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more,
but have less; we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and
smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees
but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more
problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little,
drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too
little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our
possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and
hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to
life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but
have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer

We've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air,

to quiet, to kill.

stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time
when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete.

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going
to be around forever. Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to
you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your
side.

Remember to give a warm hug to the one next to you because that is the only
treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent. Remember,
to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all
mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep
inside of you. Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday
that person will not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak
and give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

About me. I'm pretty much an open book.

Just try to imagine a guy who is now old, and who back and when was in all of the right places at all of the right times. Or at Least, way many of them. Being there. Making the SCENE.

Like about a few months after Woodstock happened, a guy in Berkeley asked me if I had gone to Woodstock. To me that just seemed like the weirdest idea in the world.
I gave it some thought before answering him. The question to me was how to explain it from my vantage point, or from where I was coming from. He came from New York and I was living out west right in the thick of things. These were two very different spaces.

So, I started to explain that I was in an Art College and that my roommate knew all of the low down on all of the rock groups. I never had to know who was coming to town. There was 3 different venues in San Francisco and every Friday and Saturday we were at 2 of them and had to choose what one we were not going to go to. Back then each show cost $3.00 and had 3 groups. So, we blew $6.00 each weekend.

Then I explained that most of the main draw bands at Woodstock were groups that I had seen in the last 5 weekends, some 2 or 3 times. My explanation was basically, why would I want to hitchhike 3,000 miles there and another 3,000 miles back, to see somebody that I saw last Saturday?

My point?
I've been in a lot of things. I've seen a lot of bands. I've made a lot of SCENES.

It's where I lived in San Francisco. A huge (kind of urban survival) commune in the Haight Ashbury Neighborhood. There and other places in San Francisco.

It was there where I first learned that every hippie needs a gig. "You don't work you don't eat." was the motto at the crash pad. This may sound severe, but, you had to spare change a buck. Or have some money gig going.

This was well after the "Summer of Love" when who knows how many people showed up in one place from all over the world. Neighborhood resources were crushed and 100s of people stood on street corners spare changing for the same quarter.

What I learned then at this commune was that everyone needs to learn to carry their own weight, somehow. Learning as we go. The opposite is known as being an energy drain on the group. Not a happy thing to be.
In the commune that I was in, people would show you how to make some change. There were functioning income groups, like gigging at the recycling center, and other things.

These were some of my experiences. And some critical lessons in things that help to keep groups together or how they fail. I vote for the first one. LOL

A thing that we should consider.

And yet this is but one aspect of what it is all about.
