That's interesting. I'm strictly speaking about what my mind can grasp here, not disputing Relativity. But I never thought of it that way. It makes sense. I always thought it more logical that, not that matter is being created, but that it is infinite. If that makes any sense. And the whole universe expansion thing is unfathomable for me too, because I thought black holes were concentrations of negative energy, in which case the universe in those locations is contracting. It's just hard for me to accept linearism based on my life experience. If there is expansion, there must be contraction in my opinion. I can't experience things without their opposites.
Okay. But I don't think anything you posted in your original post came close to this. And Dave Techie was right. quantum mechanics is just the explanation of the interactions of matter on a very small scale. It has nothing to do with a soul, which I would say is a poetic concept on the nature of our place in the universe. I think by combining the two, you miss out on the precision of science and the meaning of poetry. You can try to explain how the two are related again (small scale physics and the soul) but it seemed very tenuous
Dude, religious people have been looking for a scientific explanation for their faith forever now. It's the wet dream of every believer to have their beliefs validated beyond doubt, and have all the doubters acknowledge them as revenge. Unfortunately, convenience hasn't been on their side. What they don't understand is that science has nothing to do with truth-claims. And it only concerns matter and observable phenomena. What's so wrong with keeping your beliefs yours?
black holes AREN'T HOLES! they're just very small very dense objects they're just called holes because people didn't know what was going on for, well, most of the time we've been aware of their existence.
Yea, I understand what you're saying. I could have talked about them both separately, but then I would have just been going over what is already there, that'd be kinda boring
No, it just sounds like you were saying "But on the contrary, earlier I explained the universe was expanding." It's common knowledge. Red shifting. Gotcha. When you say it like 'as I explained in another thread' it sounds patronizing.
there are two distinct meanings to the word infinite the accepted number for atoms in the universe (finite amount of matter) is 10^81 do with that what you will
Nothing disappears in a black hole though. It's just compressed to a singularity. It is eventually radiated back into the universe. Hawking radiation.
I didn't mean to come off that way. That unfortunately just happens when talking (or typing rather) over the internet. No expression, no tone. Just cold, plain text
I disagree though. Physics isn't your strong point. It's not mine either, I'm a high school dropout. But I think If you posted just on your philosophical ideas, you would have something more coherent and possibly more meaningful. I would have been less aggressive towards it.
Well, it doesn't matter. I'm just saying that is sort of endemic in your style of communication through text, and I think that may be why you're getting some negative reactions. I don't think it's necessarily that everyone heres an asshole. Just a failure of communication. Back to the universe now...
there is a finite amount of matter, and there is a finite amount of energy, but as per gravity's incredible weakness, and dark matter, it may not all be here. it might be somewhere else, that we can't observe, that's what is really interesting, and what we should be just boggled, and terrified by, imo.
yea true enough. Science was the weaker part of my 'theory'. I had no other way though to describe that thought without the science part of it
It's basically what I think of all metaphysical belief. It's an attempt to give external reality to an internal affectionate need. I think those people would be better advised to take the risk of giving their fellow men a hug.
