This was the rule at one of the schools I attended . We had two groups at school...Spartens,and Romans, romans were the shoenists, (but they hardly lasted a week in shoes, before it was ruled illegal !! ) spartens the barefootters.Barefoot was written in the school rules,e.g. " Summer uniform: Boys : Grey short sleeved v- neck shirt, and grey shorts, and pupils attend barefoot, unless medical reasons dictate differently. Girls : red knee length tunic, white v neck short sleeved shirt, barefeet.Medical documation needed if pupils cannot walk barefoot, and unable to attend barefoot. Winter uniform:Boys. Wite log sleeved shirt, school tie,and long grey trousers,or grey shorts, school jersey,and/or blazer. School shoes, lace ups,and grey knee length socks. Girls: maroon tunic,whìte long sleeved shirt, and school tie.School jersey and/or blazer.SChool shoes, brown with black stockings.pupils should attend school bare feet and are encouraged to do so,the school accepts no resposibility for the loss of shoes, and encourage pupils to attend barefoot" . However, barefoot attendance were viewed as the absolute unbroken rule.and rîgidly enforced by prefects. If you dared to attend school with shoes, the prefects stopped you and confiscated the shoes and socks till school out,and you were clearly told, never to wear shoes again.

Today I’ve walked on the clear iced road’s surface. It’s very slippery for bare soles. So I decided to reduce the slipperiness as more as possible. I’ve glued down to the balls of my soles little pieces of a medical plaster. It helps any little, but plaster holds on for the couple of kilometers only. Duration of session 5 hours, trip 27 km., temp. -2C.
18. 01. 2011 Another long barefoot hike. Thaw, +2C. I was walking on road clear ice covered with slush and water. 6 hours, 32 km.
Sunny winter day is excellent for BF snow walk. Nice frosty calm weather. It was 4,5 hours long trip along snow covered sandy road. Distance 26 km. Temp. from -8C at beginning, to -6C when I’ve stopped my hike. Yes, I’ve reached my aim – 500 km. of snowfooting while January 2011.
