I broke a disc in mine and live with pain too,but it's tolerable. When it becomes intolerable,I have a chiro in Visalia ,Cal that I consider the best. I've gone in there supported by a friend on each side with involuntary tears coming because of the pain. I still keep roofing ,because if I don't I'd probably freeze up. I too ,used to be 6' 3" but have shrunk some. I think we americans work so hard that it's pretty common to have bad backs. Good luck,man ---hope you're fixable without the knife.

 

i think it's better to hope that there is nothing scary in there rather than hoping for a potentially faulty MRI...

Glad to hear it's just muscles. When you wrote swelling and pain in your back I thought of kidneys, inflammation of joints, skin deformation, infection...you get the point.
