I'm sorry to hear that, they have nothing but good things to say about you.
Hating the Dallas Cowboys is a much more reasonable place for such anger, at least for a good Philly kid.

hahahahaha sorry.. i knew what you meant .. :&

I don't like personalities within bands.. that tends too prejudice me 'rating' bands/musicians.

e.g I hate santana so don't rate his music

See, I don't think its accurate to say phish is overrated, because the majority of people hate them, i would say overall they are very underrated. There just happens to be a sort of subcultural niche in which they are incredibly highly rated. I happen to love phish, but they are not the most accessible or insantly appealing music in the world so I can understand why people may not like them, I think of them as an aquired taste like beer or blue cheese.

Anyway, I can't believe nobody has mentioned this but when I think of overrated artists, the first man to come to mind is ELVIS PRESLEY.

Now before you go running for your shotguns and pitchforks...I do think elvis was a great entertainer, recorded some great songs, but "king of rocknroll"? I'm sorry. Elvis learned everything he knew from black performers like james brown, chuck berry, bo diddley, little richard, and others. He did absolutely nothing original as far as I'm concerned, aside from being the first WHITE GUY to do it. Saying Elvis Presley was a rocknroll original is a bit like saying colombus discovered America.

I would add all of the "crooners" like Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby onto the list as well as nearly all of the "arena rock" of the 70's such as Journey, Foreigner, Styx, etc.

also avril levigne, she makes me nauseaus.

This thread is rediculous some1 said janis joplin was the 60s britney spears???????????????????????????????? Thats a big nah, if that person is still around i would like to tell u a thing or two that seperates janis joplin from britney spears. And all you ppl hating on phish, grateful dead, pink floyd, the who, and zepplin, you all are crazy. What type of music do you guys like, cuz to call those bands (in my oppinion some of the best) overated seems crazy to me. Another thing is the one group of ppl i can not stnad on these forums are the phish haters. Phish and their phans have not done nothing to you guys so stop making fucking threads and posts about how much phish sucks cuz they are excellent musicians and real nice guys. For some reason phish is the only band that gets this type of attention which really pisses me off. I dont see anyone starting threads like: (insert band name) SUCKS SO MUCH!!!! besides for phish. Everyone that hates on phish go listen to a show of theirs from 94 or try and play "you enjoy myself" or "the divided sky" on the guitar, and then we'll see whose fucking overrated. You ppl make me sick sometimes....

P.S. Eric Clapton is sick nasty he could rape 99.9% of all guitarists so watch who you call overrated.

ok, lets see phish play "the ancient" or "awaken" or "gates of delerium" or "sound chaser" or, really anything by YES on guitar. Or lets see them play something by Don Cherry? face it, Phish is not an aquired taste once you like the DEAD, you should just realize that they suck. talented on their instruments maybe, but as a band they fucking suck.

phish doesn't suck, i love phish and in my opinion they are amazing. but you all have your opinions and its time to express mine. phish isn't my favorite band, but they're very good. people are tlaking about bands from the past, but what about today? i cannot stand the radio because music is shit. no origanol talent anymore.

zepplin is alright, im not a big fan, stairway to ehaven is over-rated for sure.
the beatles are over-rated aswell, but still a great band...not that great though

and now, onto my point... here are the truely overated bands of today...
blink 182, the used, korn, metallica, LINKIN PARK, incubus, hoobastank, slipknot, trooper, abba, lamb of god, atreyu, my chemical romance, trapt, any fucking club rap on the radio today, the list goes on and ill continue it if i have to. anything on teh radio sucks otday, honestly no true talent.

Nirvana. My dad loves them and plays Nevermind all the time. In my not-so-humble opinon, it's such a terrible record, it's actually embarrassing.

Pink Floyd. I like Pink Floyd, actually, but I don't think they're one of the greatest bands ever. People give them more credit than they really deserve. And the Wall was a good album, but an awful movie.

Led Zeppelin was also a good band, but not nearly as good as people want to pretend they are.

U2 had one great song and they released it a thousand times. I'm on to them. I swear, all their songs sound exactly the same. Everyone's always talking about how amazing Bono is, but he's not. He's just a boring song writer with a big ego.

Modest Mouse. They're just another wannabe art band for wannabe artists.

Led zeppelin, and I would say pink floyd, but I have too much of a personal connection with their music. (it just pisses me off when i see punk kids, who I know are just doin it to look cool, wear floyd shirts.)
