Yes Thank-you chemigals for putting it back into perspective...my head was starting to hurt... I used a lot of wax for the first few weeks, followed by a lesser amount until week 10, when I stopped using it. At 8 months, my dreads are really tightly knotted, don't think they can get any tighter, with about 2.5 inches of new growth and knots at the roots. To be honest I find it borders on offensive. The current appearance of my dreads neither owes anything to, nor lacks anything because of dread wax.
Exactly Chemi!!! And Amy I am glad you began this thread! I think a lot of shit on here is ...well shit! And Im sure if a certain someone said to go rub cow shit on ure dreads, then half of the damn site would be out holding a bucket under a cow. Its so silly!!!!!! Do what you feel is right. I find this whole brainwashing subliminal wax conspiracy insulting. None of us who used wax were idiots. Those that did over use wax wont admit it (cept for the lovely Smelly) and the ones who did fuck up their dreads...did so on their own. They were not mindless zombies brain-washed by DHHQ. I know I would use it again. Why the hell not? It got me this far...and I am loving mine! Oh Amy and your locks are beautiful!
I still wouldn't use it, not because what people have said on here. Just because to me it doesn't sound like a good idea, if I put anything in my hair at all it goes greasy and slick = not good for forming knots.
Good, InTheSky coz wax is not necessary or advisable. Just want to say again, incase it's becoming unclear, I don't think dread wax should be used, but also happen to think it's unworthy of the scaremongering that goes on here.
But it's the way people on here work so people won't make the same mistakes some of us did. I don't think people here are scaremongering just trying to heavily educate against being a candle head
It's veeerry similar to a piercing forum I'm on, we don't reccommend the use of piercing guns to pierce and people get all "OMGGG YOU SHOULDNT DO THAT YOU'LL GET AIDS AND DIEEEE!" when that is possible, but not that likely, more likely you'll have a not so great piercing..
HDH I'm all for education but some of them others are right. There's a difference between scaremongering and education. There's less education going on and more scaremongering. And Callie is SO right. If a certain individual told the forum to rub cow shit in their hair they would do it. I have no clue how they got all of this god worship but it's bordering stupidity.
why don't you guys start an "I Love Wax" thread and post in there about how you feel about wax, im sure there are plenty of people who like, use and would like advice on using wax. No one ever said this was an "anti wax dread FORUM".
Ozzy this thread is already meant to be the place for a broader wax discussion...but sure if you want. I don't love wax though, so I won't be there, but maybe someone will. It's a good idea to share advice on its "proper" use though...seems such a vague area still.
it was a suggestion un related to this* debate over using wax. I just think it would be nice to see the info posted by the people who use it and even made a sticky.
As much as I think that wax has not harmed my locks, I have never once advised anyone to run out a buy a tub. I think it should be a decision you make for yourself..an informed decision. That is why I love this thread. Seems a lot of the folks that damn wax have never used it. I like seeing posts of folks who actually have, seems like a better way to make an informed decision to me. Also noticed that a lot more people are speaking up and not afraid to say that have used wax, or change their opinion because the majority says your an idiot for using it. Amy you have really changed the "feel" of the forum, and I dig it. It is OKAY to have your OWN:cheers2: opinions people ....it really IS!!!! You (Amy) seem to want to find facts ...and are unsatisfied with "wax is bad ..end of story" , rumors and stereotypes. Kudos to you!!!! Then after reading the welcome Ozzy thread, I got a sense of ut-oh people are disagreeing with me lets delete their posts or ban them. Am I wrong on this?
...but if you took the right precautions, as in base-jumping, you'd significantly reduce your chance of dying...
