i was mainly just talking about violence between friends being 'fun' because you both know your in it for recreation. but i mean if your life is really on the wire i guess that if you can't resolve the conflict without causing serious harm then yea sometimes you have to do whatever is neccesary, but that doesn't mean that you should instantly jump to trying to kill the motherfucker. sure you might only have milliseconds to decide in a real intense situation, but just because someone would kill you it doesn't mean you should kill them. you ought to take all measures neceary to prevent things from coming to that first ;)

And I do take all measures that's why I'm still alive :D
Biggest one is just try to avoid those types of people and situations in the first place, or make sure your on the crazier side of the battle.:p

What I meant is I know what your idea of violence for fun is, you explained that. But there are crazy shits out there that fun to them means breaking your body parts and hospitalization.

haha yea it would help to be on the crazier side. but even though those situations by and large can be avoided, anything can happen. like i said you can't be afraid of chaos, because it isn't afraid of you. this is where we come from, and you can't forget that.

What is funny is in my experience it's always been the little guy you had to watch out for.

Holy shit man! I have witnessed precious little violence in my lifetime, but probably the most profound thing that was impressed on me from my martial arts training was the realization of just how goddamn vicious animal humans can be, and perhaps more importantly, just how frail the human body really is and how easy it is to kill a man, even accidentally.

Even now that I am a "bad ass"(lol), I avoid even more situations than I ever did before my training. For instance I try to avoid any drinking establishments if possible and if anyone gives me shit, in a bar say, I would rather act like a pussy than have a situation escalate into something where I might have to... I really don't like to think about it because even contemplating violence I believe is terribly unhealthy.

well then, i guess we can all agree that violence is immoral :D

now the real question is why. and what exactly constitutes positive morality and for what reasons other than subjectivity.

Yes, that is how the guy who was a ranger in vietnam was, he didn't know how to fight, just kill.
As for the other guy, he was Philipino and his father was a Yoga and martial arts master and started training my friend when he was four years old. Eddie was his name and besides martial arts he could do a lot of bizarre shit.
One time we were getting high and he started staring at me, like burning holes through me. After about 5 mins he then proceeded to tell verbatim the thoughts that were going through my head while he was staring. Freaked me the fuck out. He could also lower his heart rate down to about 10-15 beats a minute amd then take up to like 120 beats, all while just sitting there with his eyes closed.
At the beach he started doing backflips, he did like 5 in row, stepped back and with a big grin on his face told us to look at the ground. There was only one friggin' set of footprints in the sand, He nailed the exact same spot every time he flipped!
Only met his father once when he was in his late eighties.
He lit a candle for me............from across the room just by staring at it!
