I stopped plumbing for money and started trading it for what I need. I also tie hemp an bead. There is a bead shop in town where I consign my stuff. The biggest thing I did was to lose my need for money. It was easy for me as I never had any credit so I was never in dept, no wife or kids so it made it real easy to do what I have done. I have a cabin and 20 acres with 2 ponds on a mountain backed up to thousands of acres of NF land. Lots of wildlife, spring water and a nice garden. I trade work for the rent.
Look at the geographic differences between the USA and other countries. For an example, countries in Europe are tremendously smaller than the USA. This makes it so much harder to develop an effective public transportation system. I could not get to work on public transit. This is why gas should be much cheaper here. I wish I could use public transportation. Oil companies are making 800% profits. This is totally rediculous.
its all about the dollar.. i assure you the europeans are not feeling the oil crunch on the scale we americans are. personally i dont blame the rest of the world for wanting to use another currency to trade oil in.. it is all irrelevant, this gos so much deeper than anything you see or here from the mainstream media.. its all planned out and they dont care that you suffer,in fact they want you to.. they want you down on your knees begging for the amero, begging for the north american union.. they want to break your spirit so they can have there "new world order".. "In the next century, nations as we know it will be obsolete; all states will recognize a single, global authority. National sovereignty wasn't such a great idea after all." Strobe Talbot, President Clinton's Deputy Secretary of State, as quoted in Time, July 20th, l992.
they want us to suffer so they can force everyone to take the mark. 'No man may sell or trade without the mark'....course I don't think that the mark is going to be as obvious as what's been prophetised, on the forehead or on the hand, but some folks been carrying the mark in their hand for many years; credit cards, debit cards...and now that they have the poor folks used to using the food cards....well, it should be an easy switch, 'specially if the paper we use now becomes null & void
"It's easier. It's safer' they chant at us on the major media outlets. 'A national ID card will make everything so much better.' I'll never believe...& as Tom Petty said, 'You can stand me against the gates of Hell but I won't back down.'
Not to mention ones social security number, without which it is illegal to buy or sell goods on the open market, nor can you get a job or bank account. I destroyed all forms of legal identification in 2000 when I came back to the Rainbow. In general, I have had very little need for money. Food is free if you know where to look, as with clothing. Shelter, however, is a little more difficult to come by(unless you know nice people or don't mind camping). I have traveled every state west of the Rockies without money, without needing it, without asking for it... Then again, I've been living on the streets since I was 14 so I know a lot of simple tricks to stay alive, healthy and happy without 'whoring' myself in any manner. So, if you ever find yourself on the streets, just ask...
nivekian, does your method of getting free food work if everybody does it? or is it just a small niche for a small group. We live in a farming communiity. I have farmed in community most of my life, and really don't know what food or rent cost. But sometimes i do buy something, and it does seem to be very expensive nowadays. THe difference between now and the past is the possibility of disaster is more proximate. The world is smaller, the population is bigger, the credit is easy (at first), the addictions are closer, the options are smaller. MOST FOLKS DON'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WANTS AND NEEDS. In the past; if you wanted to, you could walk a few hundred miles from where you were and start farming the wilds. Most of what you needed was an axe, a shovel, a hammer, and a knife, a mule and a cart, a dog . . . and some character. Now that the whole world is fenced off, you MUST play their game.
its scary, i fear very soon there will be very little "free food" to be found. be it from food pantrys or dumpsters. the food crisis is real and all its going to take is a poor wheat harvest this season and it will become disastrous..
Do you all think that the major food suppliers are going to run out of food? Or the price of food is going to sky rocket and only become available to the "elite" or the people that make the most $?
in the united states, and the rest of the industrialized world the latter,in third world countries, the first. here is a VERY informative article on just how fragile the whole food situation is..it goes into great detail of the causes of the soaring cost of food, the outlook for the next year etc. you may find it interesting,i did.. http://nation.ittefaq.com/issues/2008/04/18/news0628.htm
Have you noticed how fast things are changing? Like the biofuel thing. Gas prices went way up and then farmers started growing corn and soy for biofuel instead of growing food crops and then we have a serious food shortage. Duh! That happened in one year. It can swing back the other way just as fast. We, us ordinary folks, can influence that on a lot of levels. Finally we're getting rid of the bush catastrophe. We can have some influence on what comes next. Whether it's in our neighborhoods or our town or whatever - we need to push back against this nonsense. I totally agree we need to prepare for hard times but we also need to work to make the changes we want to see happen and not just passively hunker down and wait for . . . what? disaster? a saviour? a miracle? I think we need to personally prepare in every way we can AND collectively work to remedy the situation. No one lives in a vacuum. We're all connected by the water, by the air, by the things we cannot provide for ourselves no matter how self-sufficient we are. In the 30s this country experienced a serious depression and Roosevelt's New Deal pulled the country back together. This country has been running on the framework that was laid at that time ever since. Now we need a new New Deal. I think Obama has the best plan. Some parts of it I don't like but I think he's closer to the right idea. I would rather have seen someone like Kucinich but I don't think the US as a whole is ready for him. But I do think a lot of people are coming out of their prejudices and old self-defeating stereotypes right now and I would love to see us Rainbow folks be the example we always planned to be when this happened - because we've know this was going to happen for a long time. You don't have to let the unwashed masses in for dinner every night but you can teach them to grow their own corn. Isn't that what we're here for?
I work nights for customer service emailing, for benefits, health and tuition, and have big plans for the future. It's still fun to work for money, family; handling credit cards and cash is not "taking the mark", IMO. You can do a lot of good with it, too, and remember, the end is always near. Has been since the prophesies, if you believe in them. But humble yourselves to know not, and do the good deeds anyway, stockpile and prepare like what is guided in all our hearts. Listen to the spirit. Don't panic! :sunny: but be steadfast :sunny: making money is not hard here, my husband even makes it with odd projects, and we work to save money. We garden. We so need help dumpster-diving and salvaging, artistic work. We are season ticket holders who resell, and cheer for the Jazz as my group of awesome athletes and my inve$tment. Get to go to games, too, and that is really fun for the kids. oh yeah, we're deeply in debt, but we're dealing with it, can't change it just because it sucks but since all of life is good there's balance
Inspired post Swan~ The children shall lead them. When in crisis, remember what is True. I didn't take Soaring Eagle's post as flippant. I heard him saying Reduce Consumption Where You Can. I second that emotion.
I used to think about money. But here's the deal: whatever you believe, that's what you'll experience. Ergo, if you believe the sky's falling, it probably will. But if you believe and live in love, even if the sky does fall (which it won't), it just won't matter, 'cause you'll have what you need. All you need is love. gaia
So if I believe that my bills won't come, then they won't? You're right, you do need love, but that doesn't pay the bills or put food in my belly.
I agree with Bumble. These are very hard times and we haven't even felt the crash yet. So I believe it is very smart to save save save. I also am starting to think that the money that we hold in bank accounts to acrew any kind of interest, we should take out for fear that the system will be shot to hell and our hard earned money will be out in cyber space. I was just in PA the other day, it was very nice and relaxful, but driving back to Jersey at 7 pm at night there were so many cars on the road, filled with PA, NJ & NY license plates, it was kind of ridiculous to see how many people were on the road on a Sunday at that time. A huge problem with the food supply, is because the farmers are trying to farm as much corn as possible! and not to eat but for generation of materials such as cars. Anyway, I am thinking of starting a green house area in PA which will supply food year round. Does anyone have any thoughts of construction? I am hoping that this new presidency turns around. And to let you all know. My vote is for HILLARY CLINTON. (if you note the person who wrote about voting for Barack has only been a member for 1 day) hee hee, makes you think...is this thread being infultrated? Originally for Ron Paul, but eh we all knew he wasn't going anywhere, all I had were high hopes. Love you all. Musik
Hey Hippie Hillbilly. This is what gets me. Where is the help given to the U.S.A. during times of need? We are always there defending others, who is here to help us? And if nobody is here to help us, when are we going to start helping ourselves? We have such a huge freakin deficit trillions of dollars because of this war but yet we run low on wheat supply in which we are still selling to China!!! I feel sick, haven't smoked a cigarette in 2 months and there is nothing more that I want then a good ole' smoke. This whole situation is infuriating. ~M~
oh its infuriating alright.. to be honest muski, being we are in the rainbow family forum, i would rather not voice my political views especially on our foriegn policy..i know full well i would be chastised if i did.. ill just say that for almost all my adult life ive been a strict constitutionalist/libertarian/federalist.. yes long before ron paul made it cool... until this country recognizes the true meaning and intent of the papers this country was founded on,there is no hope for it.. but thats just my opinion...
