I’ve seen both sides of the coin. True, there are a lot of women who remain very guarded, even when nude. And I’ve seen other women who are a lot more relaxed about it and are ok if others can see their parts. Might just be the difference between someone who is newer to nudism vs one who is more experienced and comfortable with it.
It stands to reason that after many years of social nudism, and being seen in various degrees of "exposure" over time; "self-consciousness" would be diminished. It's a "everyone's seen it anyway, and I haven't been struck by lightning; so who cares?" shifting mindset. I've had a discussion with my wife that corroborates that idea. She is a lot less self-conscious than she was just 5 years ago - through continuous social interactions at our resort. It's not improbable that in another five years she will be comfortable interacting and relaxing whilst "exposed" - in a sustained fashion - without even giving it a second thought; like our best friend, who has 20 years of social nudism under her belt (I'm sure she wasn't as "openly nude" when she started out). Sometimes all it takes it time and repetition.
We’ve ( wife and I ) have had similar experiences with increasing exposure/decreasing self-consciousness. Also, my own experience was similar, when my first gf started taking me to a nude beach…
