I'm Cherokee, and already you're making me ashamed of it. How many of your ancestors were slaughtered, enslaved and shipped off to "Praying Camps?" Or, do you even know your history?

And this is your "intelligent" statement on the issue? I guess that's because you have nothing substantive to say.

You are funny, though, try the joke forums

Nope, didn't address the issue at all, if you didn't notice. I just addressed the issue that the OP post some of the most asinine "political" topics and makes some of the most naive and ill-informed comments. I have come to the conclusion that barefooted_in_iowa is simply a troll and successfully getting an emotional rise out of people, myself included.

Seriously though, read some of this kids posts and tell me he's not full of it and a troll.

As far as the topic, yes minorities are under attack in America, same as minorities are under attack in every friggin country on this planet. Now what race, creed or ethnicity constitutes a minority will be different depending on what country you are in. But there is no orchestrated effort or plot against minorities in America, thats just fucking lame and shows the depth of the OP's ignorance.

To barefooted_in_iowa, granted this is a free speech forum and you are entitled to your opinion and have a right to express it protected by the constitution. The problem that I personally have with your anti-American rhetoric you are always spewing (quite un-educated rhetoric I might add) is that it would not be allowed or tolerated for one second in your beloved China. So either appreciate the freedom you have in this country to spew your ideas or move to China and we'll hear from you then.
That is if they allow you internet access.
Then when you discover that every fucking country in the world has problems and inequality, and decide to start telling us all how horrible China is compared to whatever country you decide is better, don't be surprised if they shut you up in prison or shut you up with a bullet.

If the NSA or any other American government agency monitored it's populace for the same reasons that China does and responded the same, you would already be in prison or dead.

You've never lived in Southern California have you?

There is more racism and violence between black, hispanic and asian here than white vs any of the others. In some areas of So. Cal. there is a LOT of racial tension between Vietnamese and blacks, much more than with white people. There are some areas of Orange County (which has the highest population density of Vietnamese ANYWHERE second only to Saigon) that if you are a black man you better not enter or you stand a good chance of being killed by asians.

In the LA area it is the black and hispanic gangs killing each other, whites have nothing to do with it. Mostly it is black killing black in gang related violence, though.
How do you respond to that?

You fucking live in Iowa, how many asians or hispanics actually live around you? Move to a city like LA for six months and I promise a lot of your views will be radically changed.

Dude, you are so utterly naive and exist in a world of your own making.

I have, for 3 months, in Simi Valley. Knew people in Thousand Oaks and LA.

You're trying to reduce race relations to gang activity. Try getting out of LA and into the real world and you might see that Gangs are not the norm of American race relations.

At least Mr. Iowa can make a point on his own knowledge without resorting to insults. Try reading a book or two, or maybe taking a course at a community college, or even pay attention to what goes on around you, and you might be able to do that too.

Those who disparage others do so because they have nothing of their own to offer to the conversation. Besides comparing minorities to gangsters, do you have anything else to bring to this debate?

I used to live in Detroit, EVERYONE hated each other. :D

I did not read this entire thread, has anyone brought up how poverty and violence seem to go together, no matter what the ethnicity?

Don't remember about this thread, but you would be correct, particularly in a nation where the haves have so much and the have nots have so little.

The minorities I care about are Jews and Orientals, especially Chinese immigrants. These are not under attack by the white majority. Minorities that are under attack, especially blacks, are notorious for various social pathologies, especially crime.

What you say is true. Unfortunately, because they were lenient on criminals, especially black criminals, the Democrat Party lost the support of white blue collar workers. These vote Republican, and perpetuate an economy of growing inequality.

I guess you have a much better grasp of the racial attitudes and atmosphere in So. Cal. then I would, I've only lived here for 41 years, so obviously you have much more first hand experience.
Oh, was that 3 months before or after the fall of Saigon? Didn't have such a huge Asian population back then, so maybe you didn't notice the tensions between Asian and black.

My pointing out the gangs and racial tensions was to point out to Mr. Iowa that he is deluding himself about Asian-black relations, not as happy and rosy as he thinks it is. I'm not so naive as to think that is the whole of it, but it is a rather accurate indicator of overall sentiments from the groups involved.

    :smilielol5:

Well I have only expressed the same sentiment towards Mr. Iowa that I notice many others have presented in this "debate", he is very naive and is seeing the world through some skewed views.
Like I said, racism and inequality exists in EVERY corner of this planet, not just America. Therefore, from my perspective, that makes a lot of his arguments ludicrous as he tries to single out America as some evil thing.
All countries are made up of humans and humans have always had a history of treating those who are "different" and in the minority (the mathematical definition, not racial) poorly.

My view is actually a much wider viewpoint than yours or his because I recognize racism in all cultures and societies, not just whichever one it is trendy to bash at the moment.

Mr. Iowa praises China as some wonderful place full of equality and wonderful treatment of it's citizens, and bashes America as some horrid place. Thing he doesn't seem to grasp as I pointed out in my previous post is thanks to the Constitution and freedom of the press and speech, he is made aware of the racial atrocities that occur in America. Maybe it's because of the suppression of those freedoms in China is the reason we don't hear about it in their borders.

Segments of every racial, ethnic, cultural, or whatever other label you wish to use to segregate people, are racist to others outside of that group. It's plain and simple. That is why I find "debates" such as this one ludicrous.
I also don't paint topics like this with such broad brush strokes as Mr. Iowa does. There is racism in every segment of society, from every racial group. I prefer to take people on an individual basis.

Clean up the shit in your own yard first before you complain about the neighbors. Maybe Mr. Iowa should work on ending racism of blacks against whites instead? (I assume he is black based on his posts, I could be mistaken)
In my mind if each group worked harder to end racism within their own group rather than try to end it in others, it would have much better results.

I'm calling him on his bullshit and limited, naive' world view.
If you can not also see the glaring holes and illogic in barefooted_in_Iowa's posts then maybe you are just as naive.

i lived in la for many years, off and on from 1964 - 1997, things definitely improved over that period, despite rodney king and oj

i have seen good race relations and bad, it kinda depends on the neighborhood - the more money, the more outward friendliness [i am not psychic though]

most of the people of color i knew were not in gangs, some may have been [a couple definitely were]

the worst thing i tended to see was the following of minorities [mostly black] around in stores [especially the oft-reported korean liquor/grocery stores]

the worst "racial" hatred i ever heard expressed was from a neighbor of mine i used to drive out to east la to "visit his folks" [read: buy heroin]

the hatred he expressed was for his fellow mexicans, the ones he called "border brothers" [and some other nastier things i can't remember] - the new arrivals - darker-skinned, no ingles, silk shirts and brahma bulls

    go figure . . .

I live in North O.C. and in my dealings with Vietnamese here, they don't like blacks very much. (again painting with a broad brush) Hell a lot of them have a "superior" mindset so typical of racist views.

Racism exists in every group and in every color. To try to single out any one group as being worse than another is naive and ludicrous IMHO.

    And don't think for a second some people don't take advantage of the fear of being labeled "racist". Worked for a retail drug chain that had gotten into some trouble over race/age hiring practices. They went the opposite and anyone black or Hispanic got promotions over more qualified white co-workers. Summed up by the words of a black store manager I worked with as his assistant when discussing some problems with the store and a new District Manager. his words;
"I'm not worried, they won't ever fire me, I'm black."
Isn't that also a racist attitude?

(To post 210)No,the blue collar workers are too fuckin' dumb, evidently ,to succesfully wade through the bullshit the republic party puts out to divide this country. "Democrat party" is another little talking point the dividers use to slur the DEMOCRATIC party and you show who you are by using it. Yeah--the republic party. Ass munch.

Does Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin know that you're here admitting the Tea Party is about racism? Better watch out, they'll be sending the Men in Black after you.

If you think Blacks et al, have a "social pathology" because of skin color, you just might be a bigot. I could mention that the society is where the pathology lies, but since you don't know the meaning of "social pathology" I doubt you would understand. Google the term and learn something today.
