Last Thursday Coatesville, Pennsylvania, was home to what's become a familiar sight: a protest of more than a thousand people chanting "Black Lives Matter" and "I can't breathe."

But Coatesville is no ordinary place for a protest. About an hour drive west of Philadelphia, the old steel town of about 13,000 is a far cry from the liberal metropolises that typically host protests and demonstrations, underscoring the vast breadth of the reignited Black Lives Matter movement and the growing political importance of the suburbs.

This shit is frustrating. Not all cops are corrupt. I know and have worked with good cops. So has my family. I really think there does need to be some reform. Chokeholds and no knock warrants need to be removed from policy. Only old school still uses the chokehold. (See Do The Right Thing directed by Spike Lee. Specifically the scene where "Radio Raheem" (Bill Nunn rip) is strangled with a baton). And yes I will probably be called racist b/c I'm white. Some of these people were not innocent nor squeaky clean but they did NOT deserve to die. Tamir Rice in Cleveland didn't deserve to be shot by a trigger happy cop even though he pointed a pellet gun. They didn't know it wasn't real. You have to deesclate the situation. Eric Garner was illegally selling loose cigarettes. The cop should not have put him in a chokehold. Michael Brown shoplifted but he should not have been shot by Officer Wilson. Despite Brown's aggressive advancement. The law is a slippery slope. What you or I might consider resisting arrest might be different. I'm not defending bad or corrupt cops. I'm defending the good decent ones.

 

I will stand by this until i see different but there is no such thing as good cops as long as there is corruption among the police the so called good cops have to look the other way to allow it instead of immediately arresting their fellow offices as they would anyone else. I will believe there are good cops the day i hear of hundreds or thousands of cops being arrested by those good cops.

We have to demand a zero tolerance policy to police corruption. As the should be held to a much higher standers than those they serve. They also need to be reminded that they serve us we dont serve them. They are our employees they should do as we tell them to not as they tell us to do. If cops want respect they should have to earn it like everyone else does

 

I have to respectfully disagree. My uncles were good cops. I was a good cop. Yeah we have ones who are bad or just dont give a shit but you can't lump everyone together.

 

most doctors are good doctors too but when a fellow doctor fucks up they don't protect him / her. But all we see over and over is cops hiding behind their thin blue line bull shit. If you and your uncles were good cops how many fellow officers did you fine or arrest for breaking the law.

I have known many cops who were good people but being a good person dosent forgive allowing abuse of power

 

I noticed you only indirectly mentioned Breonna Taylor (the no knock warrant) who was shot 8 times by the police who indiscriminately fired
into her apartment without a clear target, or the case of Ahmaud Arbery, a 25-year-old black man who was gunned down by
Gregory McMichael, 64, and his son Travis McMichael, 34.

If the video evidence didn't surface the McMichael's would have gotten away with murder.

Oh btw Travis McMichael said "F_ing N_***** while Ahmaud Arbery lay dead in a pool of his own blood

 

Briana Taylor's boyfriend grabbed his gun and shot through the door. The cops returned fire. Was it right? No it wasn't. The entire situation could have been prevented. There was fault on both sides. The question was why there was a no knock warrant for Taylor's apartment building? They were there for drugs. Could there have been a mistake? Of course. Yeah McMichael was a racist and a douche. Aubrey didn't do anything wrong other than being black. Who cares if he had a record? He was murdered.
