Same with the Buffalo old man and the Mexican George Floyd incidents.

In Buffalo the two officers were suspended without pay. They initially lied and said he tripped and fell down.
That was right up until the moment a video surfaced showing what really happened.

George Floyd is not a hero. He broke into a pregnant woman’s home and robbed her at gunpoint

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8366533/George-Floyd-moved-Minneapolis-start-new-life-released-prison-Texas.html

Now that I got your attention, let’s talk about why Floyd is not a hero the media portrays him to be.

First, let me address that the cops who knelt on his neck over counterfeit money are very much in the wrong, and I am against police brutality. But it bothers me how much the protestors are trying to prop him up as a martyr and a hero. And how the media will not talk about his dark criminal past.

    • George Floyd moved to Minneapolis in 2014 for a fresh start after being released from prison in Houston, Texas following an arrest for aggravated robbery
    • Floyd had turned his life around but died on Monday after a white officer knelt on his neck while arresting him for allegedly paying with a fake $20 bill
    • None of the officers could have been aware of Floyd's more than a decade-old criminal history at the time of the arrest
    • The 46-year-old had left behind his past in Houston after being released from prison stemming from a 2007 robbery
    • He plead guilty to entering a woman’s home, pointing a gun at her stomach and searching the home for drugs and money, according to court records
    • Floyd was sentenced to 10 months in jail for having less than one gram of cocaine in a December 2005 arrest
    • He had previously been sentenced to eight months for the same offense, stemming from an October 2002 arrest
    • Floyd was arrested in 2002 for criminal trespassing and served 30 days in jail
    • He had another stint for a theft in August 1998
In criminal justice, I believe in 2nd chances. I also believe in 3rd chances depending on the situation. But I don’t believe in 5th, 6th or even 9th chances in forgiving a person’s criminal past. They tell us he was trying to get his life back together, but I have a hard time believing that he, a habitual criminal who was high on amphetamines and pentanol was “On the right track” as they say.

Right now, there is a woman who experienced this man hold a gun to her pregnant belly, and feared for her life as he and his crew ransacked her house. Imagine what it’s like to be in her place, watching people paint murals and wearing t-shirts of her assailant, calling him a hero.

Again I am not apologizing for Derek Chauvin or any of the brute cops. As I’m sure some of you cowards will try to spin my post that way. Let’s instead look at who we are rioting for, and why it’s unwise to make a martyr out of him.

I have been the person on amphetamines, and I've been on the receiving end of aggressive encounters with the police department. I don't know what a pentanol is...

I feel like this is an attempt to detract from what has clearly become a movement in American culture. I think that it's a tragedy. I've acknowledged that at every opportunity.

This isn't going to be brushed aside because of someone's colored past. Even if he were a burglar who had robbed a woman at gunpoint never in a million years does that justify kneeling on his throat!

Did he even have a weapon on him? You might brush this question aside, but I think that if he had a weapon that might justify a use of force and release some scrutiny on the officers' judgment.

It really feels like your opinion on this is colored by a dislike for minorities being given any opportunity; even if it's a legislative response following the murder of a member in their communities.

I believe the sentiment of this photo speaks for the majority. America should unite behind George Floyd and behind Black Lives Matter to insist on departmental reform in our law enforcement agencies!

    IT MUST STOP!

I don't care about your list of all the bad things George Floyd had done. Chauvin prevented Floyd from a day in court --The American way-- by murdering him.

Speaking to my friend in Minneapolis right at this moment, He said it is still going on at night... mobs and shit, he is hearing lots of popping noises too, gun fire, but papers are not covering it anymore. I will call them hooligans instead of thugs so as not to offend. .same thing, just one sounds nicer.

The good news is that all this media nonsense about black oppression will disappear from headlines just as quickly as Coronavirus, migrant children in cages, murder hornets, the Russian collusion etc. As soon as the media decides it’s worn out it’s usefulness

He paid his debt to society, served his time like a man, but didn’t deserve to die like a dog.

Now if you don’t mind I’m heading out to a George Floyd protest this afternoon to commemorate his life and memory.

Yes, this bullshit about black oppression needs to go away. Everything is fine. Nothing to see here in the US. There were no children in cages. Democrat bullshit. And not a single person in government EVER talked to ANYONE in Russia. And Trump has NEVER told a single lie. Fake news--all of it.

Was only a matter of time before the victim went on trial. Surprised it didn't happened sooner.

Did he ever once get any real substance abuse treatment ?

Look at the overdose epidemic, a lot of that is people got no help only traumatized by being thrown in jail and the first thing they do when they get out is seek relief by immediately getting high.

10 months in jail for half a gram of cocaine, glad I didn't get caught when I was doing that dumb shit back when I was young and believed I was indestructible.

About $40 get a half a gram go to the bar awake and alert feeling good.... half my town was doing that in the late 90s.

WTF would 10 months in jail and a criminal record would have done for any of us ?

My one friend was doing it constantly, out of control , his family intervened and he got some help.

10 months in jail for less then a gram of cocaine a "crime" I committed dozens of times.

We all got through it but if any of us had got caught we would have got probation and a LONG stay and a drug and alcohol treatment center after our families hired fancy lawyers "white privilege" its true.

1st 2nd 3rd chances... He never got a first chance, addiction treatment. That whole arrest record looks like coke fiend behavior to me.

And trespassing that is a bullshit charge. They pull this crap arresting people in their own buildings for not having and ID.

"NYCLU Executive Director Donna Lieberman said. “For residents of Clean Halls buildings, taking the garbage out or checking the mail can result in being thrown against the wall and humiliated by police. Untold numbers of people have been wrongly arrested for trespassing because they had the audacity to leave their apartments without IDs or visit friends and family who live in Clean Halls buildings. This aggressive assault on people’s constitutional rights must be stopped.” Class Action Lawsuit Challenges NYPD Patrols of Private Apartment Buildings

Again 1st 2nd 3rd chances... He never got a first chance, addiction treatment. That whole arrest record looks like coke fiend behavior to me.

yea... there sure are a lot of layers to the issue. I get tired of a heavy handed approach to remedy situations that are delicate. I believe cadet education is in the answer. It's part of it. We've got to address the police from within; their people telling them that it changes - with or without them - and make change the mantra of our law enforcement, not F BLM.

If you understand common sense --from the American standpoint-- then why do you always support Trump?

The entire problem is "broken windows" policing. “Broken Windows,” which argues that maintaining order by policing low-level offenses can prevent more serious crimes.

They say broken windows policing "worked" but it created so many bad encounters between police and the public that we have the current situation so many people killed over bullshit, millions and millions of people with nasty resentments against police and now so many people on the street being violent.

This is all the end result of broken windows policing. Talking heads on TV and the politicians wont discus it.

And believe me people are selfish. When you see people throwing bricks at police cars they are not doing it for George Floyd, people are selfish, most are doing it because of personal experience of being mistreated.
