Are you sure you have the correct reference? 'Smith' wasn't the system but was part of the system, and in the end not the entire system, ultimately wasn't the system at all. We all look like the system but generally are not. I feel I need to add 'essentially' but I won't.
What if you couldn't leave? You would pick a prison camp/death over military action to help you be free again?
Big big 'if's' are hard and often pointless to answer in such hypothetical situations. edit: Hmm, just wondering but why do you especially have issues with the selfrighteousness of european inhabitants? After all, I know inhabitants of a certain country who are the world championship where it comes to acting self righteous
America would help Europe, as well as China or Korea, so either side, depending on their interest at the time.
And hopefully Russians would arrive on their bears... They might not like being surrounded and loosing their gas income.
Not so sure about that. Gas reserves are better than money. Every nation has a need for it sooner or later so it will stay valuable. I have no clue what a country like Russia would currently do in such a situation but when I think about it the smartest thing for them would probably be to stay neutral if they can.
