I agree, COF are actually a hugely underrated band, they have got progressively worse though.

At least they are progressing mind you, Slayer haven't learned to play anything else since Reign in Blood. Everything song is Reign in blood, Slayer, you aren't fooling anyone..

 

You mean "raining blood" Reign in blood is the album. And no it doesn't, if it did sound like the stuff off of Reign in blood it wouldn't suck as much.

Slayer are just like Metallica, even though the "hardcore" fans don't seem to think that. They were both crazy ass metal bands back in the day but they're just softass millionaires now.

 

yup this is why i didnt brother getting into them after i heard that album and the cd with abyss song.....very reptative band no thanks..... even though i am being a hypocrite becuz i like black metal bands like immortal and dark throne and dark funeral.....i make exception for them since it s black metal and you really dont need much talent to do true black metal... even though you can say COF and Dimmu are very talent black metal bands.... but i think their image can only be black metal but their talent is too good to be called black metal.....since black metal is only a reincarnation of 1970s punk.

also Metallica has a very diverse lyrical topics and themes unlike Slayer.....

No, I didn't mean musically. I meant they are the same commercial wise... Both have ruined their reputation in my eyes. I don't take either bands work past the mid 90's seriously... It's just not the same....

Kirk was the only one who knew anything about scales (even then he was very limited). Both bands music is easy as fuck to play on every instrument. Except the drumming in some Slayer songs....

I don't even like wearing Metallica shirts anymore.... They don't deserve me to wear their name with all the faggot shit they've put out.... They'll always be my favourite band though.

I think its metallica the only ones aside from slayer who have burn their rep...slayer at least seems to carry the long hair , play fast and heavy music... unlike metallica...

you dont hear james solos but his still and i can tell decently studied musician... as for slayer i know i read kerry say that theirs is no music theory behind their solos at all.....

In fact, someone name a Slayer song worth listening to, I will listen to it. I did seem them at a Slipknot gig after all, so I was a teeny bopper then. I have made an opinion of them based on that, and never tried to change it.

I mean, at 15 I hated Tool, Katatonia, Metallica, all the good shit. I was a bit of a fool, so Slayer could be effin awesome, who knows.

 

Slayer's definitely a band that appeals to more of the teenager in me - you know that music that you wouldn't necessarily describe as great but you would call it great fun.

Same here. My metal taste has reverted back to the classics - Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Sacred Reich, Testament.
Actually, I listen to way more punk now, which really surprised me.
