Lets face it, most of the threads in here are mental masturbation. Even if we could comprehend infinity I don't know if there'd be any benifit in it--"No man has seen god and lived"-- and I really doubt we'd be able to describe it to someone else. For that matter I think religion itself, in most forms, is masturbation; getting off on an image in your head as an alternative to forming a relationship with something real. I've always thought shaminism and the eastern religions make more sense; they don't try to define the nature of the infinite, they just outline a path for achieving unity with it. My opinion Jesus was doing the same thing. But hey, masturbation is fun.
I wouldn't call anything 'real'... and I think, when it comes to the nature of the infinite, we have to look to our own perception. Misunderstanding infinity could just be a product of our binary logic... ahh I've gone and said too much, lol
Lol. I liked your original statement better, "nothing is real". I was going to say if nothing is real, then it would be a great thing to focus on; it's bigger than the universe, and yet we can comprehend it. it's so great that even atheists worship it. it's so popular that most people spend most of their time talking about it. it lasts forever. it's indestructable; you can subtract it from itself, and it's still there; nothing from nothing leaves nothing.
Stop belittling my belittling dammit! Getting so you can't even troll the Jesus people without attracting the comedians...
i havent read this thread but my comment is this...."mental illness" is nothing more than a set of thinking patterns one has chosen to exist in. change your thinking patterns and change your reality. i dont buy into the whole "disease" bit. you can argue if you like but iv come to this realization through expirience on more than one occasion.
