haha yea... kissing is something everbody everywhere, does in the same language (yes jefferson airplane inspiration right there, except i switched smile for kissing)
So, let me see if I get this straight... First off, you are saying that mentally handicapped people are of a different species?. And, i'll start from the top of your post and start reviewing from there.. First off you start with a bias statement claiming we think it's "cool to eat meat"..I think it's cool to have proteins in me actually, have you ever heard of Charles Darwin's Theory; Survival of the fittest? If we didn't eat meat, do you realize how many wild animals there would be in this planet? You could step outside and get mauled by rabbits, and they'll make you into a stew. It's not because we're 'smarter' it's because we are 'fitter'. And then you're comparing our diet to one of the biggest atrocities in hundreds of years(slavery). We don't NEED to start loving and protecting and caring for animals, we do though NEED to keep ourselves alive, and animals are not our brothers and sisters, they are infact of another species. We are mammals, and a sub class of mammals is Carnivora(which in return is of the class mammalia), herbivore is not a sub class of mammals, herbivores include animals such as sheep and grasshoppers. So, we don't think it's cool to eat animals because we are humans, it's natural. Other animals eat other animals, is it because they think it's cool?Or because it's a natural instinct?hmm..Insects eat plants, that's not to cool..I guess it must be natural. So you can go ahead and stay vegetarian, but don't try to get everyone else to stop eating meat. Earth has approximately 6,500,000,000 human inhabitants. You don't eat meat, so that's about 6,499,999,999 people who could potentially be meat eaters. The estimated population of the united states is 298,217,215.. so i'm going to be generous..Let's say you got ALL of America to somehow stop eating meat.. Now, since you are probably included in that population, and I am being so generous already, I am going to take back the one I substrated from the earth population, as to not give you one free human not eating meat;-). Now we still have 6,210,782,785 potential meat eaters. Now let's say you manage to get all of Canada to stop eating meat..Well, I live in Canada, and I won't include myself, because I think it's cool to eat meat of course, and I have to keep up appearance. You now have 6,178,235,589 potential meat eaters... Hmm...Well, while we're in North America, let's take out mexico!! Still 6,071,206,586 potential meat eaters. So we've just taken out of all North America from the meat eating chain..We made a bit of an impact, 500 million..We must be feeling pretty good about ourselves? In 2006 the USMEF exported 1.365 billion dollars worth of BEEF alone. That has a huge impact on the economy, if everyone just stopped eating meat, millions of jobs would be lost in North America alone. So, in summary, you're not going to do anything to stop animals from being bred to be slaughtered. If there's suddenly less purchases of meat, they aren't gonna let their little cow babies run free, they were born to be turned into a hamburger.
Actually, if i'm not mistaken, that song was originally written by CSN or possibly CSNY, but the Jefferson Airplane version is better^^
Dear Mr. Man, You say "That has a huge impact on the economy, if everyone just stopped eating meat, millions of jobs would be lost in North America alone." When something that is terrible is fueling the economy and even providing jobs, you cant just shovel it away in order to protect peoples jobs. If you're cool with that, why would you be cool with the end of the holocaust- many nazi's had jobs there...or what about slavery- that was a HUGE part of the economy...you simply can't justify this atrocity by stating that jobs would be lost. And yes, I'm comparing animals to humans because they're just as important as we are to this earth...Infact, if mother earth could decide, she'd probably rather see a human die than an animal...seriously- what positive things have humans done for the earth anyway? We're basically cancer upon the earth...gready, glutinous, heartless cancers upon the earth.
Wow...So, you took out one small part of my entire post, and then started comparing it to nazis? and the holocaust? Good defense...Except you only covered one sentence of my post... And if mother earth could choose, she wouldn't be a fictional concept.
ship , you actually made a very good point. Ill aplaud you. For i only change my way of thinking of something makes REAL sense in my lines of value and life. You my friend have done that. I will try to be a vegi only person. But i ask you one more thing. Why do other animals eat other animals? Why arent all animals vegitarians
That's nature. Survival of the fittest. Eating animals is completely natural. Animals have been doing it since the dawn of creation.
Wooden Ships, actually... and the Jefferson Airplane version sucks major ass, in my opinion. If you smile at me, I will understand, that is something everybody everywhere does in the same language.
JESUS CHRIST how many times is this subject going to come up i eat meat...and babies aborted ones! yes...no no while they're still in the womb! i'm a filthy, evil, meat eating man whore (man whore?) mwahahhaha har . . __
You people lack compassion in every possible way. You do not understand that what you do is murder because you are peciesists, like the majority of humankind. Why do animals not deserve equal consideration as humans in the realm of "rights"? The only reason that you meat eaters claim that they do not is due to the fact that they are biologically different from us, making them below us. Is that not the same reasoning that the whites used during the horrible period in history during which slavery was legal, just on a wider level. Think about it, you are placing yourselves above animals due to the fact that they are of a different species, just in the same way that whites placed themselves above blacks (members of a different race.) I do not see what is so hard to understand about this concept and how widely it is applied in our speciesist world today. I am sorry my friends but you do not need meat to attain protein, and this is proved by the millions of thriving vegetarians who walk the earth today, in cheery steps, without being held down by the weight of rotting meat inside their colons. Animals WOULD NOT overpopulate the globe due to the simple fact that they are bred for us to eat them, do you not realize that if we stopped stepping in, reproducing animals at a rate that allows billions to die each year numbers would fall. Also, the reason that we humans should not take part in the action which seems to be natural, as stated by Darwin, is because we have the capacity to make moral decisions, unlike the common animal. Why should you sit back and allow billions of animals to die under the most stressful conditions possible so that your appetite can be quenched by the steaming carcass of a slaughtered animal. Pain is pain, no matter who feels it- if the magnitude is equal, the need for it to be stopped is equal. Why should you not allow consideration for animals, to sit back and watch as they are abused and murdered before your arrogant eyes? Realize that what is going on is a horrible act and allow your mind to evolve beyond the state of the common mind. Think beyond what you want and what it seems that you need, because the truth of the matter is- it is not worth the satisfaction of your appetite for billions of deaths each year. By the way, to all of the fools out there who are proponants of survival of the fittest- you must have seen slavery and the Holocaust as being quite fitting due to the fact that one party prevailed over another. I obviously have come to the realization that these periods in time, along with the cruelty surrounding the lives of animals today is in no way justifiable. Just because one pary has the ability to be supreme in a certain case does not mean that it is morally just. We as humans are meant to think beyond ruling over those who we presume to be weak and we must be able to think beyond what would benefit us to the greatest degree.
my fishing won't affect you in the slightest. but the cumulative CO2 emitted during the unnecesarry shipping of your soy will affect the entire world for a significant period of time.
<3 grateful: re animals overpopulatin: Some do. No, not the ones that are our primary sources of protein these days, but the local populations of deer, moose, caribou, ducks and geese would all grow too the point of being diseased due to overpopulation concerns if hunters didn't get permits and go out after them every year. Admittedly the amount gathered in that situation is much less than the beef industry alone, but it is a genuine concern I'm of hte opinion we overindulge in meat. I do it too sometimes though. I don't htink all meat is wrong but I think we overdo it compared to other viable protein sources.
I am so sorry that you are so malinformed on the topic. The profuction of meet is and always has been environmentally unsustainable. Concerns such as pollution and the waste of necessary resources are raised by many concerned vegetarian-environmentalists. Animals feed on grain which requires a lot of water (nearly half of all the water supply in this country) ALSO, animals raised for food in the U.S. consume 90% of the soy crop! Animals need about 10x the vegetables that a vegetarian needs in order to feed those who eat them. I would say that you got owned.
