Perhaps the crass was covered up until someone discovered how much such coverage would promote the sport. Hatred is attention, as much as love and a passionate hater will by opposing merchandise and watch the same game with the same advertising. Money and fame seems to have a decidedly negative effect on character. I can't imagine that has changed all that much.
This is a fantastic point. People seem to overlook the interceptions Manning threw to end playoff runs and the days when he threw as many or MORE interceptions than touchdowns.Manning knows one thing that others don't..... he knows how to show the camera what the camera wants. He knows "fake". T.O. and Randy Moss don't get it. I liked how Moss in a very recent post game interview because he was asked about the loss and instead of giving a gracious bullshit statement, he said, "I'm just going to keep it to myself because I know they'll be handing down fines on Wednesday".To me, that is honesty with a touch of maturity. He didn't hide that he was pissed, but he also didn't let his alligator mouth take control of his canary brain. Peyton Manning, to me, is the douchiest of douche bags. Even beyond the likes of people like Ricky Williams and Plaxico Burress. He pretends to be a nice, humble person, and his actions(in games and outside) show everything to the contrary. When Bellicheck refused his handshake after a loss to the Colt's the "humble" Manning didn't let it ride... instead he patted Bellicheck on the stomach to be snide. When Manning was on pace to set the TD record for a season he said he didn't think about it, yet in a game where he had the chance to set the record he threw two interceptions in the same spot of the end zone trying to force the ball in for a record setting touchdown. Real humble. . . . I'm not a Pat's fan. I don't dislike them, but they're not one of my teams, but even being an Indianapolis resident, Tom Brady will go down as a better football player and a more humble opponent than Manning in my book. Not to mention Brady wasn't a born superstar like Manning and yet has had a FAR more impressive carreer. He now has the records AND the rings..... 'nuff said. Matt Ryan though had less to start with than either of them(new coach, awful stigma, brand new scheme, and lots of new additions) and is doing something rather impressive in my opinion. The entire sports world saw the Falcons as the worst team in the NFL this year and their record is comparable to 'elite' teams such as Colts, Pats, Cowboys' etc.Playoffs? Well.... maybe not, but they are making a strong push for a wild-card spot, and for a team that was estimated by EVERY analyst to have 4 wins has double that with plenty of time to improve.
