Always the optomist, eh? And I disagree. In the US I think it won't be for a long time. But progress certainly has been made. Look at Denver. OK, so it was overturned, but the will of the people was there. It's amusing how Bush still calls his government a democracy. Certainly in the UK it will soon be legal/decriminalized. In the past 10 years it has been re-classified - it is now a class C substance, meaning possesion is no longer an arrestable offence, and dealing has much lesser consequences in the eyes of the law.
I think as more countries begin to treat marijuana as a plant and not as a crime the US will very slowly beging to change its views. Right now there are too many conservative people who use many topics including marijuana and other illegal drugs to shift the publics focus from the bigger issues. Capedo
Sure you can be all optomistic and fight a losing war.. but thats just valuable time you could be smoking weed in my eyes
if i was an indian and marijuana was legal... i would grow that shit and sell it since theres no tax on em since its an indian reservation and everyone would come to me for it... i would be making a shit load of money like the indian casino owners....
ya tahts y. try it again without, i gaurantee you'll get your answer. same with the meaning of life. type that in with quotations and ull get nothing, but without them.....
i dont have to much of a problem with it being illegal, but i guess id be nice if i could walk around smoking mj and buying it for lower prices say at a store
The city council of West Hollywood, CA has voted and approved of a measure to have the police not bother people with personal amounts of marijuana or if they are smoking in private. It doesn't actually change the laws but it mandates that the police do not enforce them. A person still can't smoke in public or sell it, though, but it is a step in the right direction.
no, if it was in a store, the componies would put addicting chemicals in it to guerentee customers for life. if it was legal, just grow it in your yard. thats what i would do
I think that by 2010 it will be legal, at the very least at the state level in some states. If you weren't aware, two states are voting to legalize (regulate and tax like alcohol) in the next three months (Nevada and Colorado, and Vermont later) and more will be voting next year. This is unprecidented in history and maybe this prejudice will be over soon. The new laws allow marijuana to be sold in shops with tobaco and they up the punishment for DUI while at the same time not punishing thoes who dont' DUI (it's legal). It actually makes sense to punish those who are irresponsible and break the law MORE than thoes who don't. They want to tax and regulate and get marijuana under control. Check out the web pages of the movement stopteenuse regulatemarijuana Don't forget the DEA is illegal, the constitution does not allow the kinds of laws like the DEA. That is why they had to ammend the constitution for alcohol prohibition. Eventually america will wake up and not only realize the drug war does more harm than the drugs but also that we should be educating people and regulating this stuff and not breaking the law to punish the responsible people. P.S When marijuana is legal it will no longer be illegal for companies or individuals to process marijuana into solids and liquids so it doesn't have to be smoked to be consumed. Marijuana will actually be healther when it is legal and it will be the healthiest substance to enjoy. Alcohol will be a poor health choice, but still legal, and the choice of your grandparents by the time you have children.
I saw something about ppl being able to smoke joints in public in west hollywood..it was on fox news too(this was awhile ago)
two things.. that would be a great time..only gonna happen if we get off our lazy stoner asses and do soemthing to make it legal and two, that greengirl looks pretty, hopefully she actually likes rage
No sense in being pessimistic (what some of you call "realistic") about the situation. There are still measures being taken to step in the right direction. I've heard enough excuses why you people haven't done shit for any cause whatsoever.
the idea of government is a good one in the right hands. Unfortunatly ours has fallen into the hands of curruptness.
the cancer causing agents in cigarettes are created by the burning of the leaves. its not like cigarette companies sit next to their big vat of tobacco and throw in random poisons to hurt people. weed also has a few carcinogens(sp?) in it. anything thats burned and you inhale does.
While I don't think they purposely put chemicals in soley to give people cancer (why would they, they want you stay around and buy cigarrettes), they do put a lot of chemicals in them. They put in chemicals to keep the cigarette from going out when it just sits there for example, and many many more. I certainly beleive that getting cancer from smoking cigarrettes is a little more then just breathing in smoke from leaves... About legalization it seems like efforts are getting closer to reality. So many people are still stuck on the opinion of drug use is bad so there for it should be illegal. That just simply isnt thinking it all the way through. Yes drug use (even marijuana) can be bad but by making it illegal you just simply give the sales to the black market, because the demand is still there. By legalizing it (completely) you will not neccasarily see reduced drug use, but will see less crime associated with sale/distribution as it will no longer be illegal to do so. You will also see regulation such as requiring to put the THC percentage on the bag, etc. You also will see less drugs poisoned or laced with other drugs. People think legalization is the condoning of drug use amongst everyone and that simply isn't true. Thanks, Neofree
