it's hard to say something bad about stonerbill....he knows everything about everything....almost to the point where it's annoying....
yeah, i mean i know our media is 100% foolproof and NEVEr lies to us because our government loves us and looks out for our best interests at all times....but we'll see
Yes, because I'm sure a country full of stoners would be totally on top of all its responsibilities, and it would thrive tremendously.
^^...man, gym's would fall into disrepair, and there would be more taco bells than any other building....
I wasn't really serious, you know. that message wasn't really beneficial for the conversations held ovehere, this one either.... sorry :H
i dont think it will. america wants to be the best, and well why would they legalize something that is usually looked upon with shame?
Do you think they are concerned about making money off it? They throw billions of dollars down the drain every year to enforce the laws on it, and I think they know it doesnt work, but they like having the mentality of thinking they are helping clear up the streets, organized crime, stupid kids in school, and etc.
I don't know of many countries anywhere in the world where marijuana is actually legal. Even in Amsterdam it's only decriminalized. Hoping that the largest opponent to drugs in the world is going to do an about face is definitely FAITH, it's not logic at all. Decriminalization on the other hand, is only a matter of time. The US government is already starting to accept the fact that they fucked up and wasted 200 billion dollars (or something even crazier) in the last 20 years fighting a battle that they are not only losing, but are in fact actually supporting the progress of high quality drugs. In Canada, the laws have already been slacked quite a bit in the past 5 or 10 years, especially in Vancouver, BC. I live in Ontario now, so I can't just walk down the street past a cop smoking a joint anymore, but I could in Vancouver. The attitude in Vancouver is if you give them a reason, they will use the MJ as an excuse to bust you, otherwise, they don't care. Actually I guess it was decriminalized. For posession under 28g, they will issue a fine. In Ontario, it's still quite a bit tougher, but cops don't go out of their way to make peoples lives miserable unless you are being conspicuous or trafficing. It will still be a long time before MJ will be acceptable even in Canada though, and the US won't be winning any races on this subject. I think people need to stop comparing marijuana to alcohol. It is not a beneficial argument in my opinion. Putting MJ in the same class as booze raises alot of concerns for pot that people already have regarding alcohol, regardless if it's applicable or not.
what people need to do is put more research into what marijuana can do for us besides being smoked. there are dozens of things you can do with marijuana if you grow large crops of it. only the bud is smoked right? so that leaves you with the stalk and the leaves. the leaves can still have oils and whatnot in em, so there you have a possible fuel, or process it for plastics...and the stalk you can use to make textiles paper and building materials. all of which would reduce the need to cut down trees. of course theres probably a hell of alot more things you could do with the marijuana plant they just need to be found and organized and then presented to some high up politicians on the hill. what you have to do is show the feds that marijuana isnt just for a bunch of dumbass kids that are 15 that think smokin weed and arguing on ther internet is hellatight. if everyone here would shut the fuck up and quit bickering on the internet and wrote well thought letters to thier politicians you might see change a little bit sooner. i supported the legalization long before i smoked because it was a crop that could save the tobacco farmers in MD. for years less and less tobacco has been baught from MD farmers. so quite a few are switching to hemp. almost didnt happen, but many folks like me wrote letters to the government and it helped. the US has the population to sway the laws faster than canada could id say. but all it takes it for all you lazy ass stoners to put down the pipe and actually put something together to send to your politicians. if you dont get a reply, then you should revise what you send, and send it again. do that month after month after month. if everyone does that it will be legal in a forseeable future. all it takes is the support of the people.
Ive often thought that if we turned our attention towards alcohol and the way we look at it that might just help us to move another step forward in the fight to legalize/decriminalize marijuana. My point is simply that alcohol isnt really looked at as a drug.(atleast not in the states)I think if we could get people to truly see it as being a drug,it would help to lift the stigma of the whole drug thing off of marijuana. Then we might be able to get people to accept that we are a drug using culture, and that marijuana isnt such a bad drug after all. As far as it making the goverment "tons of money".Well it would be awhile before it did that. There is so much marijuana seed around that it would prove hard to tax.Although im sure that the simple convenience of buying a pack from the store would eventually win out. After all the goverment was in the same boat with tobacco when they started taxing it. I cant quite go along with those that say they cant legalize it because they would have to admit they were wrong to lock up thousands+ before it was legalized.Because isnt that the way it allways happens???lol.think about it.Segregation,discrimination,colonization....we just finally figure out.."hey man we ben fucking up",admit we are wrong ,and try to repair it. It just seems to take a hell of a long time. We got to make it happen.Isnt that what the 60sand 70s taught us? the united states is a goverment "of the people".I know its hard to beleive ,but if it wasnt they wouldnt have achieved shit in the 60s and 70s.Everything takes struggle. Or atleast these are my thoughts and that dont really mean much.lol Sorry about the spelling.
yeah youve got a good point phaedros, but over here in britain all the politicians seem to be hooked on the idea that it causes shizaphrenia an other mental health issues so much so that even if they did realise the number of mental health casaulties is minute compared with the number of users in britain
the feds wont make money so much off the taxing of marijuana so much as the savings in the prison system. it takes an average of $28,000 to hold one inmate for a year. you figure that theres a hell of alot of folks in jail for marijuana...thats millions of dollars the feds wont be wasting and would also open jails up more.
Not to mention that it would stop people from selling it, why would you buy it illegally when you could just go to the store and get it or grow your own, this would stop a lot of drug smuggling coming from mexico that people are getting so mad about. Unfortunately it wont happen for a long time.
