A few years ago I would not have been "caught dead" wearing a toe ring, but in reading about other people I decided to try it. I've been going barefoot as often as possible for the last 10 years and the spread between my big toe and the index toe has increased to a healthy looking gap. I sometimes wear my toe ring on my left index toe which stands out because of the gap.

I'll try and take a pic and share with everyone.

I always wear one toe ring, sometimes two. Depends. It's another one of those things that's gotten better as time goes on. Better for us guys to do, I mean. I don't mind if it seems feminine to some. Do it anyway. But like so many other things (earrings, ankle bracelets, etc) that used to be mostly for females, toe rings are for guys too.

Shows my bare feet are no mistake! And I like the way it looks on me. A few others notice it, too, and as far as I can tell, it looks good to them, too.

I used to see toe rings as more of a feminine thing... but then I realized there is no such thing as masculine or feminine apparel.

Come on, that's not true. We rely on perception based on conditioning -- that's what makes some apparel masculine or feminine... If guys started wearing frilly dresses, that would look feminine, no two ways about it. Eyeliner, eyeshadow, lipstick, blush... you saying a guy would not look feminine in that stuff? Sure, if it came to be more and more common gradually, eventually the reality becomes such that no one thinks twice about it. But all during the getting-there, it's gonna seem quite feminine. Let's not deny it.

I dunno, Jeffrey. This guy wears quite a bit of make-up...more than me, in fact. But I do not think he looks feminine at all. He's just a different form of himself. But then, I was raised watching the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and the idea of guys wearing make-up or dresses doesn't phase me. I'm sure most of the rest of society would have something to say, but it does nothing for me.

The same reason we wear rings on our fingers, or earrings, or bracelets or necklaces. Jewelry and adornment have a long history in human behavior, ranging from spiritual and religious reasons, to social commentary and shock value. Each person's reason is their own, as individual as they are. For me, I wear toe rings to draw attention to my feet, I guess. I am proud of them, so I like to show them...which makes my reason one of the more common reasons for adorning oneself: simple vanity. :)

Male toe rings are sexy! I think it's more of a hippie thing than a feminine thing. I like guys that wear jewelry, the masculine kind of course. I love it when guys wear earrings, necklaces, bracelets, anklets, toe rings, etc.

I dare you to say that to Alex in "A Clockwork Orange"...

He'd beat you to death with an umbrella.

Damn you Stanley Kubrick! Damn you all to hell!

Hi all, this is my first post here.

I've been wearing a toe ring for about five years now. The only person who's ever made a negative comment about it is my brother, who insists that toe rings are "just for girls." I've gotten positive reactions from a number of women, though! It's a thin gold band on the middle toe of my right foot.

I shall deny it because I refuse to believe that men and women are ABSOLUTELY segregated by definition based on their choice of apparel. If a guy wants to wear eyeliner, lipstick, and a frilly dress, whatever; doesn't change the fact that he's a guy (nor does it restrict him to that identification alone either)... He's just has a less conventional appearance... I don't believe in labels as each human's spirit expresses itself in a unique way.

What's masculine and feminine changes with the times, so it's not a definite thing. Two or three hundred years ago it was commonplace for men to wear not only wigs, but rouge, lipstick, and eye makeup, along with lacy collars and sleeves. Not my style, personally, but it goes to show that no way of dressing is masculine or feminine in and of itself.

as do I. I believe your soul (sole... :p) is what determines your sex. The body is merely a portal. Make it pretty! :D

    Debra - absolutely!

As for toe rings, started wearing them in 1997 with one ring. Now I regularly wear 4, have worn up to 7 at once. I love 'em. I wear many rings and bracelets though, because I love silver and turquoise. Just a jewelry thing - I'm not gay or weird or anything... except for the fact that from March to October, I pretty much don't wear shoes and my friends are used to seeing me barefoot and my feet black from walking around all day. That and the toe rings - a new trade mark.

toe rings on guys are hot.
as for the feminine thing, in the eighties men who had their ears pierced were considered gay. now look at all the piercings they sport.
nice point rom_x, they also wore tights.

That is one of the nicest posts I've read on any forum. Thanks! I love the way you finish it with the human spirit expressing itself in a unique way.
