What in Gods name are you making noise about, paul? I do have proof. Anyone wants it, feel free to read "The Walking Dead" by Craig Roberts, USMC ret., or any other Vietnam Military NonFiction written by PEOPLE WHO WERE THERE. I have no idea what you said after what. Just a bunch of nonsense and gagglefuck.
This is the song I wrote yesterday. It's about a Dead-head who is torn between the way of life and his family. Not sure it's very good, but oh well. Here goes. On the road again Another empty wine-glass in your hand. Take up your load again Broken dreams and footprints in the sand. The time is near In which world will your allegiance lie? The signs are here And tell me, Johnny, do you want to die? Is there not another way to drown your sorrow? Haunting thoughts with no complain Have you forgotton what means more to you? You've been gone for years The sleepless nights await the restless days Shed blood and tears The music keeps you yearning as it plays. Your lover cries She says, "Why are you doing this to me?" Her troubled eyes Mirror your desire to be free. Is there not another way to drown your sorrow? Haunting thoughts with no complain Have you forgotton what means more to you? She says, "Johnny, no." "You don't have to throw your life away." But you had to go You said that you had nothing more to say. The air that night Chilled your trembling hands and racing heart Gave up the fight "I give you all my love before I part." Was there not another way to drown your sorrow? Haunting thoughts increased the pain Had you forgotton what meant more to you?
I am an old hippy lived when you wanted to, but lost friends to many things then and now. I think you have a beautiful dream, but make it a dream of your own, for your own time. It's a different war that our young are being sacrificed to, and a far more powerful monied elite class causing it. You have to find your own voice. It's great to look for inspiration from the past, but also look to your contemporaries for inspiration. Find your own truths for your own time. You guys have the internet. We didn't back then. It's a new world rising. And I really hope you are part of it. Your lyrics are a good start. But try talking with some of the returning service people that have left the military, learn about their experiences. Talk with the families of those who have lost members to this war. Live life how you would like all to live it. Talk with people from the muslim community, and Iraq, etc. Again...sing your own song! Maybe you guys will be "Netties" or maybe "Webbies" instead of "Hippies". You can be informed more than my generation ever was, because you have access to so much more information, than we did. That will be your strength. We had to fight for the "Freedom of Information Act", we had to delve through dusty archives and libraries. You guys have it at your fingertips! Just don't let "the powers that be" infringe on that, that's actually your most important job. Insure the freedom of the "web".
yea gardener makes a real good point, we cant just try to start hippies up again, we need like a new name. maybe a new style too. maybe not though, cause i like tie dye gardener made a lot of sense
Nope. But these boys were. DaNang Airbase, '65: http://i.cnn.net/cnn/2003/SHOWBIZ/books/12/16/sunlight.maraniss/story.danang.marine.1965.jpg Also: http://vietnam.northfork.net/graphics/06.jpg http://thundering-third.org/images/miller_dalton.jpg Were YOU?
Long hair is awesome. I like guys with hair down to their waist. who said guys were supposed to have short hair? That's pretty dumb. It's an unspoken rule of society. People must fight it and grow their hair.
You can still have your tie dye. The hippies never claimed ownership. We just enjoyed it developed it and wore it. Of course Walmart may try and trademark it.
they'll never get the smile face and never get tie dye! all you neo-hippies, web-heads, flower children and what ever else we feel like calling ourselves know there's one more in the movement holding up a sign.
