So who on here is not a hypocrite? Do we not all have something we do not need, that we hold onto. Something that would make someone else's life better? Maybe that would be a good place to start bringing ourselves inner peace. Like MrMorrison said, let go of what you do not need. I know I am guilty, the hard part is going to be letting go.
its damn hard to let go of luxeries. i sure as hell know im not doing it too well. i just bought a wii. so i guess i was also been a hypocrite. but i dont think letting go of it means you cant have any. i think you just need to understand that you dont need it and that if you do lose some of your luxeries, dont feel as if its the end of the world. dont think that the ultimate thing in life is too have a bunch of cool shit. that is probably the major fault of my generation. everyone is obsessed with getting their iphones and psp and HDTV. but i also know that none of that will bring me happiness in life. i know that i use it for entertainment when its rainy outside or night or whatever. id much rather go relax in nature. the people who made this thread(woodstockchild) need to find acceptance of other peoples beliefs and not let it bother them. it has nothing to do with being a "hippy" thats just a name, a label, a stereotype. the hippys are gone. but their idealism stays. political ideas and peace and all that good stuff has nothing at all to do with bob dylan or hippy music. bob dylan was just a guy. his music does not create peace. too think a concert will make a peace movement is rediculus. woodstock was a concert that was put on in the middle of the hippy movement. it had nothing to do with creating it. its only famous because it was huge and lots of big name bands were there. the TRUE legacy of the hippy movement is their idealism, soul, and their belief that they could make a difference in the country and world. NOT by music, but by protests, sit-ins, and getting their ideas known to the world. all having another woodstock would do would be too make another over-priced festival with famous people playing there and overpriced T-shirts and water.
Its nice that you want to change the world and all... The problem with the typical highschool-hippie like you and mrmorrison is that both of you want to repeat the 60's, however nice it was before our time you wont bring back that revolution. You want to abolish the drug laws? Become a politician and do it, dont like "the man"? Well you got to play the game to change the rules. To sum it up.. Learn from the past, dont repeat it.
And by the way, Anyone interested in forming a folk blues psychedelic rock 'n soul group I'm always looking. I need a lead guitarist, blues influenced, who can play soft and clean but still shred. A keyboardist, blues/soul/psychedelic influenced. A nice rock organ player would be awesome. HARMONICA... a drummer with a unique style... A bassist who has been playing for a long time. Another singer/songwriter even. I'm open to that possibility. I really want to form a group, that's all I know. I'm a singer/songwriter/rhythm guitarist and I play some keyboards, as you may know. Feel free to contact me through PM.
unfortunatly i cnt play guitar well enough yet... but i can deffinatly be a roadie, and come with u guys to all yr shows you have all my support
I'm a drummer looking for people to jam with and I've been told that I have a unique playing style akin to those of the psychedelic genre, and I'm also a singer-songwriter, emphasis on the songwriter, not so much the singing part, but I try.
Who cares, man? It's music. I agree with most of what you say, but when it comes down to it, the reality is that there probably won't be this revolution, but making music with other people can be. Plus, music is more important in my opinion.
Very cool. I'm trying to bring the influences of folk, blues, psychedelic, soul and rock together to create something awesome. I'd love to jam sometime, and hopefully someday we can.
how could one possibly have a "new woodstock movement" with out first forming band? please enlighten me
Well What were the three driving factors of the 60s revolution? The draft, drugs, and music. Playing protest music could turn people on to an anti-war state of mind We need to drive fascism out of our government. If our music says "love eachother" then who knows, people just might listen. We need to set an example And people might follow.
i dont want to repeat the 60s. i think this whole revolution thing is kinda dumb. im saying that if they do want to change anything, look to the inner self before the outer world
those werent the 3 driving factors. there are hundreds of things that led up to the whole "revolution". not drugs. drugs cant change the world at all. too many stupid kids abusing them. the draft was only on part of it and music helped it along. but was not a main factor. no one listens to the lyrics of a song and decides that just because its a good song, its the right idea. as much as you would love to believe, music can not change the world. only people can.
