A New Woodstock? Count me in! I'm currently writing a series of songs myself. I just need to find some musicians and I'll have myself a band. I sent you a PM, by the way. -Rich
Ya, I'm all for the younger generation organizing another Woodstock. But who's gonna perform in the New Woodstock festival? Avril Lavigne??
no dude, 50 cent, who else?? or mabey some really cool bands like tool, the mars volta, John Butler Trio, Disco biscuits and other musicians that go a bit deeper than the average commercial popstar. there is anough good stuff around
All violence is equally terrible, and cant be justified. Try telling that to the people who pushed hitlers armies back !! try telling it to the armies of castro and Che Guevarra You will find there is a lot of justification for violence and this is the time for a fight with capitalism - you seriously dont think capitalism will stop its exploitation and its wars and its pollution becuause a few middle class twits get together and sing a few songs in a field do you ? HA HA HA do me favour mate !! hahahahaha
Yeah...no type of violence can be justified...I don't even care what the circumstances are. I say that as an African-Canadian who's people have been slaved and discriminated against for hundreds of years. Violence against the white man for what he did to us 200 years is stupid and illogical. Just like if I was Jewish, I'd say that violence against the Nazis is stupid, but I'm not Jewish, so I obviously cannot speak for them. Violence gets us nowhere, protesting does, but no one will listen to you if you riot and burn things and hurt people like a brainless jackass. You have to show that you're strong enough to avoid violence, because the governments want you to act out with violence, and once you do that, they have you under their control, but once they see cats in the streets acting strong and peaceful, the powers get scared, because the kids are too strong and they could just get what they want.
So it's been a year since you posted this... what has been accomplished since then? You have these ambitious dreams of a United, Communal America.. all of which seem to stem from you somehow becoming a rock super-star and taking the world by storm. Hey if it happens, I'll be there.
hey if that would ever happen, i fully support and stand behind you on that. ive been wanting to do something like that for so long.
Let us start the revolution in our hearts and in our minds. Begin to love all beings with equanimity, no matter if you even like them. Spread peace with your own actions. Show others the power of forgiveness. Live like each day is your last. YOU can make a difference, even if you affect only one person. You have already begun to change the world. Peace and love
So what is happening? I got a story published in Adbusters. I hope I made a difference in someone's life. I work at a camp store and try to make all the customers feel valued and appreciated. What are we doing to change the world?
Well, we have to start by changing ourselves, because the starting point for change in a mass circle is personal change, one change. Not everyone wants what we want...They have to change themselves, and we can't make them change. I mean, it's July 4th, which means nothing to me but another day in July, it's the 40th anniversary of the Summer of Love and nothing is being done..Now that's a drag.
that would be the great life. i mean, i sit in my appratment, and i just think that i am in the wrong movie. I feel so out of place in this world, and just the thought to recreate something like woodstock or monterey would be fantastic. i would immediatly jump out of my chair and i would find a way to go to your concernt. hey, at least you are a living example that there are hopeful people out there! "You may say I am a dreamer, but I am not the only one....!" peace and love to you! verena
Hey, if you're in the wrong movie, just pop it out and put a new one in. Don't waste your life. If you have something you wanna do, do it!

Change yourself before you start talking about changing others.
I'm shocked. My mom dragged me to an open-mic in Las Cruces... I was hesitiant because almost everyone in the crowd looked over 40, but I got up there, did Dylan's "A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall" and one of my originals. I got an amazing responsa that even stunned me. I looked out into the audience, and sure enough... old hippies. I was approached by tons of people afterward with compliments. But there was this one guy named Bob Burns who told me he wanted to help me fulfill my dream. He took me to his house a few days later and we played a few songs together. He got me a radio gig. I played my original song on the college raido. That weekend I was invited back to participate in a Woody Guthrie tribute, which I did and got to play alongside a bunch of amazing musicians. He set me to open for him at a Winter Solstice festival this December and I think it's in California!! And He's helping me get a spot at another summer folk festival in California next year. I returned to the open-mic, played Mr. Tambourine Man and another of my originals, and was approached by this other guy with another folk raido show and asked me if I'd appear on it. I said yes and should be doing that soon. I'm so happy! I'm so excited! My dream might come true!
Im with you all the way. When you get out and form the band, post the name of the group so we know what to look for. Think about it you guys, if we all buy it, then it would eventually become a big hit, and when that happens, all the people who follow trends and shit will see it and check it out. Which would mean the word peace would become known widely again. This could work.
