It's better to have a very small group who wants to change the world than to have a huge group of people wherein only a small amount will actually do something for the better and the rest just sit on their fat asses and wait for peace to come.

Change has always been brought about by the minority. Look at the American Revolution...

The aspirations just seem a little, uh, grandiose.

"After I change the hearts of the people and the children of the flowers have found themselves again..."

    The 60s are extremely romanticized.

the original woodstock generation was rebeling against everything they were raised to believe, the current generation of 16-25 year olds were raised by those parents.
without the illusion of rebellion, the youth will not rise up.

Let's be really honest about this movement. We need to get the support of everyone who is not happy with the way things are. We need to make use of the same tools the government is using. We need ads on TV and media coverage. We need anti-propaganda. We need to create a new yippie revolution, not just a revolution of woodstock. We need unity and some sort of order to change the things we hate. Who is with me?

    Peace and love

Right On, sister! I'm with ya! I had a name for a new movement in mind..how about "Children of The New Mother Nature" Dig it? Sounds about right with the correct cause that's needed.

Without getting into any specifics, I have to say that's incredibly impressive. Even in America with so many people so filled with anger and vitriol about the current situation, it's near impossible to get people out in their own neighborhoods - let alone get any signifigant number of people to travel.

I'm nowhere near Europe, of course, but I'm still very interested - is there a website or something I could read?

Start the revolution in your own backyard! Organise protests and pass out fliers!

Check out the book Culture Jam. It's really good and has some ideas about revolution. They also have a magazine called adbusters. The website is www.adbusters.org

i'd say, just act, don't wait for the others to come, be the freakin' spark of your own revolution man. if you want to read about what's happening you could visit worldchanging.org and wiserearth.org. you might get some nice ideas from it. i don't think it is happening in europe alone but all around the globe, you only need to look a little better

alternatively you could shit into the livingrooms of the capitalist bastards by getting off your fat pretentious arses and actually protest about stuff in a way that gets on to the tv screen in a way that the media cannot ignore !

Some people did it by rioting - The press and tv media cant ignore that in your own country - other countries wont show it but yours has to !!!! perhaps your "sit down on your fat ass for revolution" might work I doubt it - I think the people in this thread are either CIA or just people who are too greedy or pretentiously well off to want change

What rioting really does is damage the credibility of those in favor of change. You're giving the established ruling class ammunition to say "see how these primitive savages destroy everything, they must be restricted even further!". Rioting alienates yourself from the mainstream society. You need to influence or manipulate mainstream society just as the ruling class does to make a change. Rioting alienates the majority from your cause and weakens your standing to make any real change.

Use that energy and anger to organize boycotts and peaceful protests. Show the mainstream that you're civilized people they can relate to and perhaps even agree with, not violent hoodlums who pose a threat to them.

Rioting is impulsive and ultimately counterproductive, so use your brain and not your fists if you actually want to make a positive change. Rioters give progressive radicals a bad image and weaken the footing they need to base their arguments off of.

wrong ! rioting on the scale the Europeans have at anticapitalist meetings mean that they cannot be ignored - when 1/4 of a million people riot (RIOT NOT PROTEST) out of 2 million protesters, that sends a big message that people are not taking the stupidity of these capitalist assholes any longer. Also the WTO and the G8 have changed policy after rioters forced the issue and this would not have happened if it had been peaceful protest.

We really have gone beyond the stage where it matters what the state says against its opposition - there is no opposition representing you in your parliament. you vote for them but they shit on you. the opposition is on the street.
I know of nobody, old or young, white, black, manual or white collar worker, man or woman from any section of society who does not laugh at anything the government says about protest against its aims, nor at its politicians claims they act for the nation

I will never renounce my share of violence - I stand by these words

well what capitalists are doing is 10000 times more ugly. their soldiers and police are much more violent than any protester - why to protect the interest and financial status of a few wealthy politicians and their friends

All violence is equally terrible, and cant be justified.
