Yeah, I forked out EU1250 for mine, and about 1 month later the priced dropped down to EU1000!

I like them because they look like something out of 2001.

I recently discovered that the input and output sound lines also double up as optical ports, handy for digitally recording streaming music.

The ones that get taken to court probably.

Apparently there is some law whereby most products are obliged to be covered for most thing for three years under EU law.

Yes they are very expensive.. but worth it, I believe. I mean the best operating system out there, and a fine fine piece of technology.. they do look like they're out of a sci-fi movie haha

Hey Penny, if you want a good free virus checker ClamXav is supposed to be the best option for Macs. Word on the street is Don't waste your money on Norton and all that shit, they just fuck up your system.

Apparently not, they say. But it is always best to be on the safe side, and whilst you might not be susceptible to most of the viruses out there you can still get them and pass them on unwittingly to friends who use windows.

I downloaded ClamXav, and I have had no problems with it. It is supposed to be one of the best for Macs, but how well it works I don't really know. People on the Apple forums recommend it so they should know.

Same. I have Firefox and don't seem to have much trouble. And when I do have trouble, it's almost guaranteed it was because I was being retarded and clicked on something I shouldn't have.

No, you don't need one. Maybe in the future, but for now, Macs are pretty much virus and malware free.

I don't believe it's possible for a Mac user to spread anything to Windows. Macs don't get infected.

Hmm, you might be right. But if you can receive a file, say, that has a virus attached to it, it might not spread through your computer, but if you then email it to someone with windows it could then infect their computer, right?

Never get any updates with this ClamXav, but then I've never checked for any either.

Folks say it's good though. I don't really use it very often for scanning my system though, it's more just there to make me less paranoid.

    xfx,

Thousands of mac users of bit-torrent who unwittingly spread viruses and don't have adequate virus protection to scan the files the download, or net savvy to look at the files they are downloading.

Macs can download .avi's too, and seed them, and spread viruses unknowingly, and mac owners are more likely not to catch viruses because they are mac owners.

no, it's not the finest OS out there. for some things it is quite good. but it is by no stretch of any imagination the finest out there.

Is HipForums loading up ok for you Penny? I just updated to the latest Safari and I have to say I don't like it so much. With HF pages are loading really bad, I always had a few problems but never as bad as this. Images not loading, just getting the little blue question mark, and sometimes the layout is all screwed up. I asked the peeps on the Apple discussion forums but they said they had no problem.
