***The only people that need a system like yours are gamers and people that do high end graphics/video.***

I'll give you that. And that i what I use my PC for. You average internet user need not spend more than 500 dollars on a computer.

***"Joe average citizen" doesn't need anything remotely close to that. Most Mac users have COME FROM WINDOW PCs. Get a clue young one!***

The problem lies in the ridiculous price of macs. A mac is meant to be a "high end" system, but people who pay the 3 grand they cost are more than likely to be casual users who did not know hot to run their PC properly.

If they taught general PC maintanence in home ec style classes in school, people would be able to save thousands of dollars by using a 500 dollar PC for posting on their face book accounts.

Simple thing like defragmentation, registry cleaning, spyware cleaning, and driver updates, go a very, very long way in keeping a PC healthy.

Mac vs PC. Not Mac vs Windows?

Then the PC wins hands down. You can build your own, install Linux and have a far better OS and hardware than a Mac alone, which falls down somewhat on the latter. The math is pretty simple, in my book.

I like having my computers built for me so I don't have to spend loads of time learning how to set up/repair stuff and then applying that knowledge on a regular basis. I like to actually use my computer to DO STUFF.

That stuff does not need to be done on Macs. Also that $500 pc quickly becomes more expensive when Joe and Jane Doe have to take it back to Best buy or Circuit city or where ever to get the thing de-virused,bugged, wormed, have the OS re-installed, etc. It adds up real fast.

You and I may know how to deal with it, the average person does not.
