Plug almost anything into a Windows computer and it'll work too. Not a great selling point. Try plugging in an Apple monitor, keyboard or mouse into a PC...they don't work. Try plugging a PC monitor, keyboard or mouse into an Apple it doesn't work either.
Well, um... Considering that Macs use the same video cards and PCI-E slots, and PC's have the same USB ports, and considering that all the hardware in a newer 'Mac' will eventually be available for a 'PC'... I would expect that YES, you can plug your 'PC' monitor into your 'Mac' or vice versa. I am speaking modern 'Mac's and modern 'PC's though. Lets say you just bought a new MacPro without a monitor or keyboard/mouse (although all new Mac desktops come with a keyboard/mouse at no extra charge). So, for whatever reason, you decide to use your old monitor, keyboard, and mouse from your old PC. You take this thing here: (that comes free with your MacPro because it has a Geforce 7300 or better video card) And you plug it into your Mac and the other side allows your standard VGA monitor to plug in. Now you must plug in your keyboard/mouse. Both just seem to plug right into their USB slots. (of coarse your using USB because you have a modern keyboard and mouse, right?) But why not just use the keyboard and mouse that came with your Mac? Neither one is easier to plug-in, but the Apple one is newer and matches. To sum it up, everything will work. And as for programs. You can use Songbird as a free alternative to iTunes. You could also try out one of Apples graphical software suits. Or you could download a free graphical software suit, or you could emulate Windows and run your software from there... Or you could be really hardcore and install Windows along with OSX and run your software from there. Man there is other unique Questions I would like to answer but I have to go back and look to see what they were. *edit* I forgot to mention some stuff. With OSX, easily using hardware like external drives, wireless devices (although new Macs come with a builtin wireless card), printers, scanners, fax machines, vibrators, hair driers, etc will all work. OSX comes with more drivers available to use than Windows XP (I have no idea how many Vista has). If you plug it in, you probably won't need the CDROM that came with the printer because OSX will take care of it for you. It's great. File management is now a lot easier on a Mac than it has been. Many people have trouble learning how to use a new Operating System. That is the only problem that is left unsolved. Once you actually learn to use a Mac, you will find it easier and faster than Windows.
I was browsing Google Video and I came upon this funny video. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1361478923937968682&q=OSX+Leopard&total=1111&start=0&num=20&so=0&type=search&plindex=18
Mac is better for the over 40's that know nothing about how to even turn a comp on! PC is for the geeks that like to customise and build on their "perfect computer" However, if you don't know what you're doing with a PC, like, really know what you're doing, then it'll crash and freeze somewhat, whereas Macs are slightly more reliable, (and the boot time on a Mac is substantially quicker) Owning both, I'd have to say that for gaming and office based work - PC But for entertainment, making movies, music, pictures and having fun - Mac just because it's easier and quicker to use (when you get used to the OS)
Ha ha ha, er yeah youre right man. A hand-shandy didnt do it so I had fullon rumpy with the GF - seemed to blow the chillipepper outa my brain ! I still think macs are overblown hyped up tosh tho, and not much will change my opinion. My friend once tried to demonstrate how to make a toaster work off of USB but all he did was fry the usb and ps2 circuits couldnt get access by any known keyboard at all
well he didnt really have a clue what he was doing. I have some photo's of it happening either on a cd or one of my old phones somewhere i will try and find them there is actually one of them where he has a totally priceless look on his face as he realises he just blew his computer. A bit like a chimpanzee caught in some headlights
BTW this is a nice little blog piece followed by some interesting debate on the subject http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=5455
idk if its true because ive never looked at it but werent the original imacs sucky? you know, the colored ones that they dont make anymore?
If you were a clever hacker or a proper viral code writer and you had chopped up the mac os, and were making 1000's of illegal $$$$$$$$ off that, would you tell anyone about that? Or would you just keep it nice and quiet? The fact nobody knows whether macs are being attacked is not the same as saying they are 100% secure. Just because you havent found a virus on your computer doesnt mean there are no viruses on your computer. There could be some you havent found
I have tried to express that before. How can you really know it's there if the virus scanner can't detect it? Luckily, Mac has some crazy hacker-programmer dudes working around the clock trying to hack OSX themselves before the virus or hack is made "on the streets". As soon as some discrepancy's is recognized, work starts to fix it that day. Luckily, OSX is based on BSD. That makes it impossible to run a virus system wide unless you explicitly install it. That means even if a virus is placed in a bootleg MP3 file, the virus will only be active when the MP3 is in use (if at all).
Here I sit in the library at school and I have to use a Mac because all the PCs are taken. 24/24 PCs taken and only 9/13 Macs taken. So yeah the library is busy, but its an interesting study in preference of computer doesn't it. It's a good thing all I need is the internet cause on this thing, that's all I know how to use. Oh, look the Mac across from me just got taken by this fine looking young lady that I noticed wandering around the PCs a couple of minutes ago
lol, fine lady eh? Mac's are easy to use but you have to be willing to learn. The same goes with any OS that a person isn't accustomed to using.
Yes they are indeed! There was a time when everyone had to learn Windows too. Macs are easier, no doubt about it.
Yeah AA, Those fine young ladies always get my attention. I've got sensors in the back of my head. I'm here legitimately trying to study(seriously, I havn't been here on the forums since my post when I first said that. I've been studying for the past 2 hours. Just wanted to check my posts before I leave.) and this cute young thing walks by and there goes my concentration. Just gone. Adderall_Assasin, maybe I need to get some of that (No, I don't mean the girl.)
I love Mac. Much less of an asspain to work with for various reasons. I use a few apps of which the PC has no counterpart that I can appreciate as well. I use PC too, but prefer to use a mac (In fact two of my macs run XP anyway).
