The Super-sized Big Mac combo also outsells a bowl of miso soup, some brown rice with fresh vegetables and a cup of green tea, too, but ... [IMG]

    macs are FAR superior

hahahaha oh yeah in what way exactly, I mean what specifically makes a mac superior?
If youre gonna tell me its the graphics capability youre wrong. Many top designers and film makers prefer PC to mac these days as the graphics capabilities can far exceed the mac. On processor speeds and the chips instruction set PC is superior. I would far prefer to trust an intel chip than those farty little RISC chips apple use
I have yet to find any mac enthusiast that could actually assert in indubitable terms the actual case of Mac over PC
People look at apple machines and mistake good design for technical innovation. Its a mistake not many serious users make. Yeah a mac looks good inb your office or living room and if thats what counts most, great go for it. People who need power, speed, quality of output, these days go for PC, its easier to replace parts and upgrade too and certainly a lot cheaper
apple is a dinosaur, but one that looks pretty enough not to kill off

(sorry for editing but it was really long)

You have no earthly idea what you are talking about. Mac/Apple hasn't sold the RISC achitecture since the 1990's. Your pretty old-fashioned and I suggest you do more research.

Right now, Apple/Mac sells nothing but Intel processors. This is the same processor architecture you will find in a Dell or HP.

Don't believe me? Take a look:
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?nnmm=browse&mco=7B72365D&node=home/shop_mac/family/mac_pro

That link is to the MacPro dual Intel Quad-Core system That means it has 8 cores (think 8 processors) in it. Intel signed an agreement with Apple/Mac to sell their latest and greatest technology to Mac long before selling it to anyone else.

If you want the newest Intel system, Mac has it.

my point exactly, nowadays theres even less to choose from between a mac and a pc so whats the hassle? If you want style get a mac but if you want substance build a pc or better still buy one if you got the cash. The fact that intel sell their latest greatest to mac first is neither here nor there, it just shows that apple have less regard for their customers since everyone knows you should wait at least two years before buying wholesale into a totally new chipset architecture. What, dont you remember the floating point fiasco with intel chips back around the late 90's? hahaha It caused a LOT of very wrong calculations in the scientific and mathematical communities.
I bet those mac users all have Vista too ! LOL LOL a lot, beta chips and fishy vista, lol

obviously someone who is not compis mentis when it comes to computer history. The floating point fiasco was not a crock...
its actually true, intel engineered a fault into their first pentium chips
who is to say there isnt a fault with the new dual and quad core architecture?
I mean what are youy some kinda fuckin genius chip desiner or something?
I suggest you brush up on your history, mr ass-stick shithot or whatever you are called
    http://www.willamette.edu/~mjaneba/pentprob.html

Now after reading that, mr knowitall, just exactly what lunatic would put, for example, astronauts into space with a quadcore chip - not nasa - go check their site , they only use proven technology. No mission critical user would at this time risk dual or quadcore technology, or if they did they would be tortally stupid

always test your chip on non critical users - the home market - never buy into a beta technology ony a final product - give it two years and every airport and space agency and hospital in the world will use quadcore not right now tho leave vista and quadcore to the home user

bugnito, stop trying to get members here rialed (spell?) up. I know you are fucking around with people and it is kinda funny, but you took it a little far with the philisophical bull crap. :p

Mac's units are all very thoroughly tested and not Beta chipsets. It's kinda rude fucking with ppl's mind's like that. Noone in there right mind would buy a Mac to use Vista. They might use Vista for one or two things maybe once a year. I'd bet that 98.9% of Mac users have OSX as their primary OS.

    O. And AMD has a dual core chip and they have a quad core chip being released very soon.

It's all good, I laughed at the reply. I have a sense of humor. Bug just needs a "chill pill", I think that's what they call it!

I ditched Windows over 8 years ago and never looked back.

You couldn't PAY me to use it today.

All well and good what do you do when your trade requires a certain software and your operating system won't run it?

You Linux users heavy Photoshop users? You have to provide graphics to printers?

Can you and do you provide the file formats they need? And how and what file conversion software do you use?

I'd love to convert but I have clients that require certain file formats. They require souce files not just jpgs, etc..

You keep Windows or you can dual boot Windows on a Mac.

So what's the big benefit of a Mac? And don't get me wrong I own several older macs and love to play with them, but for the money for a new computer, I can buy a PC computer and software for less than what I'd pay for a Mac. I'll continue to buy old Macs at yard sales...love their design, but for day to day use I just can't justify the expense. And I can't afford the price of upgrading their OS, it's a lot more expensive than Windows.

One of the MAJOR benefits is Macs are far more secure. No viruses, no trojans, no worms, etc. Also, OSX blows away Windows. It's far more stable.

To each his own, use what you like of coarse. I got fed up with all the Windows BS. Never again.

I've been playing with computers since the eighties. OSX may be more stabile but does it allow you the control over you files, similar to the way Windows does? That's always been my biggest complaint against Macs. Apple seems to believe the computer owner is stupid, and thus makes access to his files almost impossible. I've had to troubleshoot some crap on older Macs and Apple ties your hands. Stablility is one thing, elementary control is another. Perhaps, they appear more stabile because they shut the user out of control. I got real sick of the file manager under older versions of apple os.

And actually I had trouble with the amount of control Windows wanted. I was a dos power user.

And I've played with Linux, but if I can't port my software to it easily, and have to buy another operating system to do business, what's the benefit.

Control over files as in attributes? Sure. It's not that Apple thinks users are stupid, you CAN get control but let's face it, the average Joe or Jane user IS computer stupid so Apple makes OSX with some fail safes for that. Most average users don't need root access. Only a few of us "geeks".

I suggest "OSX the missing manual" book for more info. Or start googling a bit. If your software doesn't port over stay with Windows of coarse. There is usually a Mac program or 2 to match Windows stuff, save for the occassional "special" program.

I know from being a Flash creator/developer the Mac version of the program is the last to be patched. Is Adobe guarranteeing that Photoshop works as well under mac as it does pc?

I definately agree that macs having less worries about viruses and spyware etc is envious. I have always been curious about Macs. I suppose I'm just retarded though, because I'll stick with my Toshiba. My mom has a macbook, my dad has a brand new mac desktop and everytime I try to use them I can't figure out how to do what I want to do. With windows, when I am doing a new procedure, for instance when I first bought a scanner, I easily figured it out. Not so easy on a mac to figure anything out.

Plus, mac is not compatible with Napster, Yahoo Music, etc. Or maybe there is some, not completely way to convert? Because I am not paying $1 per track, and I do think itunes is completely retarded, no where near as easy as WMP10. I have 3000 tracks on my computer purchased from yahoo music for $15 a month. You think I wanna pay $1 for each one, nope!! Plus, I can download an album for free, load it on my sansa, go for a drive or a walk or whatever, and if it sucks, then I get rid of it. With itunes, you pay for each track in order to load it on to your overpriced, only one choice, ipod.

I'll stick with windows, though one day I would like to try Linux. And after I've made a couple of million dollars (yeah right) I would like to buy one of each to compare side by side long term.

Plug something into a Mac and it'll work. Printer? Scanner? External drive? They should all work. Macs are easy to use and they set themselves up as well as added hardware.

Your take on iTunes is rediculous. You can import any CD with it. $1 a song shouldn't break your bank account. It's fair IMHO. Plus the iPods are great devices. No one sells more players, period. That's says something.

Anywho, I'm done with this thread. Use what YOU like. I love Macs and OSX and will never use Windows again personally here at home. 8+ years Windows free and loving it.
