I took a few more panoramics while I was up there and this is the best one I think of the others. It wasn't as light as it appears in this photo as the camera compensated. The picture starts from due north and pans round east, south,west to north again. You can see the Pentland Hills sort of south-west and Arthur's Seat was almost due north and can be seen in on the far right, with Edinburgh Castle a little to the left of it. Behind those clouds somewhere there is a perfectly aligned sun and moon...
Here is another one I took of the solstice sunrise. The photo looks slightly lop-sided but this actually because it is looking west to east (left to right) down towards the firth of forth.
