I thought that was the point? to drown us in various indoctrination, propaganda, junk food, prescription & recreational drugs, sex, sexually ambivalent and shallow media, religion etc etc.. so we as a populace stay sedated and acquiescent.
Oh, absolutely that is the point. But the purpose of breaking apart the family was that it represented the last vestige of the tribal unit. The communists wrote heavily about this. They said that the biggest obstacle between the individual and the state was the family. So if they could destroy the family, then people would look to their state as their new family and to guide them in the direction the state saw fit. They also proposed that the children be removed from their mothers at birth and be raised by the state.

leary did more to harm the psychedelic movement than anything to help it, his in your face, illegal activity with his undergraduates was filled with contempt for he status quo which drew attention to psychedelics and a form of disapproval was seen to be developed around the culture from the abundant "square" community. way to go leary
