well, in defense of of americans, binge drinking is become far more of a problem in various european countries now. it appears it's less a matter of "alcohol education" than "nothign better to do," ie. a freaking living to make and/or parents who give a shit.
Yes, binge drinking is a huge problem here in Spain.. I'm scared for my little sis, who's 13.. kids get together in basements with bottles and just drink til they're sick.. that's something I don't understand..
id rather see weed become legal then alchol be available for dumbass 18 year olds that will get alchol poisoning and die on the side of the street
but if alcohol is illegal for legal adults.. then the legal adult age should be 21 not 18.. why is it 18?
yeah, i really don't understand a lot of it, but i DO know that alcohol isn't the issue, lifestyle is more of an issue. we've debilitated our teens to such a degree that they have nothing left with with to occupy themselves. used to be a teen had duties, and when they were done, they'd drink what was available, usually the cheap wine or ale or whatnot. they'd earned it. they'd earn it again. now we raise our kids to be useless well into adulthood. having been raised useless, i have to admit, i have a bit of resentment.
I like what KC is saying. The problem is: 1) raising kids to think being happy is to consume rather than being productive 2) the idea that you have to "get an education" (wtf?) before hands-on work experience That's my best guess. I know both have had an impact on my life as well as everyone of my generation.
