yeah id also like to know of this proof of jesus and his miracles.. roman records do mention a jesus of nazarath going on the cross i believe, but he was also taken down the same night before he died.. so if the romans records are youre proof of his existance it also debunks the rest of his death.. and proof of miracles?
Duck-- there was a time in my life when I felt exactly what you're writing. I thought myself so wise and worldly and all this Jesus stuff can't be real; I mean, my parents believe it and look how square they are! Yeah, I know, Christianity is very uncool. Funny though, after 8 years of drugs, angst, "finding myself", "opening my eyes", [insert hip catchphrase here] I came back. Why? Because I realized that I was just chasing the wind. There was something lacking in my heart that couldn't be filled with anything else. If I lose coolness points because I believe in something that can't be proven by Reason or Logic or the great god Science, big deal. I'm not going to try to steer you back onto the path; if you wander off, I won't condemn you because I've wandered also. On the contrary... If anything, I hold myself much more accountable for my actions now than I did when I was "wandering". I am out of the shell. I am in the real world. You make it sound like people who believe in Christ are in need of some kind of crutch to help them get through the day. Christ has given me peace for today and hope for eternity, something that Reason and Science will never achieve. Best of luck to you in your quest, wherever it may lead you...
Because I always wanted to wear a white robe and play the harp! I'd love to spend eternity rejoicing in the presence of my Creator and Redeemer-- I am dancing at the feet of my Lord, all is bliss, all is bliss... One could also ask, "Why don't you want to live after you die physically?"
Is someone really needing proofs of Jesus historicy? I want to ask a question? What would be accepted proofs? Define them and think at the same time do you require them as proofs of historicy from other figures too, not just Jesus. You said that Jesus was taken from the cross before he died. In what documents is this thought based on? And describe what research you have done to check their reliability. Hmm, I don't like this mail of mine. Its too technical. I got saved and got the Holy Spirit by putting mý trust on Christs work, and before that I met Christ as a living personality, not in flesh but in the spiritual realm. Not in drugs, but when arguing against christians. And I have talked with Christ after becoming a believer. So my relationship with Christ is not based on historical documents, but the present reality. I put my trust on Christ and got regenerated, not because bible tells so, but because I needed to be saved and I was told that there is this possibility. If bible too tells about this possibility to be saved, great. But it doesnt make it better or worse: it was and still is a living fact that when you put your trust on Christs work you will be saved and get the Holy Spirit. Its about reality that started from the cross and can be experienced with or without bible, but not with out trust on Christ.
yes it has...just we never get to see it..people are scared that it is right...if u dig deep enough you can find the research.... Roly.xxx
Bandit was right. You can ask for God's wisdom. It doesnt literally mean knowing everything Gods knows. It means asking for guidance. God can put the answer to a question in your mind by u simply asking him. He can reveal answers though people, places, signs, words, anything...its an exciting and very real thing. You cannot tell me its wrong, simply because its happened to me, its my reality...i kno it is an sbsolute to me as it definately happened to me, that u can not mess with.To Bandit its his truth..he's felt it.. I believe you, and agree with you, Roly. I have asked for strength, and for the healing of a loved one, and know that my prayers were answered. I agree on the reality of it all. Miracles happen, and that is my truth, and I accept others truths as being just as valid and real. Atheists truths are true for them, and that is good enough for me. We can all be right.
I couldn't answer your poll since I did stop being a true 'Christian' many years ago (29), I have never stopped believing in Spirit. I believe in magic, miracles, prayer, and guardian angels/guides. So I didn't know which box to tick off.
Well for some pilots to land a 747 at a speed of 155 knots might be true for him and for another pilot his truth maybe to land his 747 at 70 knots, and that might be true for him. But the end result is the last pilot will be dead. So much for his truth. Given choices, I think I will fly with the first pilot. I like his truth better.
well thats your perspective, but what about saying some drivers to take a corner at 155kph might be true for him and for another driver his truth maybe to take the corner at 55kph. the end result is the first driver will be dead. and that driver is the same pilot who landed at 155knots. you are not right. you may not be wrong but youre not right. people like you are what make the majority of people who hate religions, hate them. blackguard is true in what he says, he has his beliefs and thats why he feels is true, yet doesnt deny or debunk others beliefs. he (as far as i presume), myself and many others main motive for coming here is to learn, or to see others perspectives. not to hate, testify and condemn.
Of coarse if you approach the arguement with an illogical example you can twist anything, which is what most liberals do. And black Guard does deny the Christian faith. He said it himself, he does not believe in the washing away the sin thing. This is the problem with liberals, they don't seem to stand for anything. If it is black liberals will say it's white and if it is white liberals will say it's black and we are both right even if we are wrong, and your truth is ok and my truth is ok. This is psyco babel. And if one questions such statements that appear incorrect you say those people are here only to hate. Give me a brake. Buy the way, I would be with the driver who was taking the corner at 55 miles an hour. Because I see the that truth. Black Guard and you would not know the difference, because you would say both drivers have the truth. With your kind of logic, I'm sure you would say that Jesus Christ gave Christianity a bad name.
Atropine, you presume correctly, I do feel just as you say. As for Campbell and his pilot analogy, it has nothing to do with what I am talking about, which is our personal faith or non-faith in Spirit. He clearly feels that Muslims, Jews, etc., are somehow not right, while he is. I do not share his one dimensional view of spirituality. He is free to believe whatever he chooses, and though he feels I am wrong, I still accept that whatever he believes is just as true as what I do. If he had lived my life, and I his, maybe our opinions would also be reversed. No ONE religion has a monolpoly on salvation, in my view, and atheists beliefs are not for me to deny or discount either, I just do not share their reality.
I believe that God is beyond my comprehension, and that in this lifetime I will never be able to define, describe, or understand God. I believe in the power of prayer, miracles, and magic. I also believe that for all realistic intents and purposes, there is a difference between good and evil, right and wrong, etc. In theory, these qualities may be subjective, but in practice, I see a clear and obvious line between them.
You are right, I guess I must qualify my acceptance of others beliefs by saying that I accept them if they are not hurtful to others, and they do not promote hatred.
I do not make moral claims, at least by my definition of morality. What I do claim is that in my reality, there is a definite line between what is ethically evil and good. I see this line as being between actions and words that are harmful to others, and those that are helpful. In my view, evil and hatred stems from fear, and goodness from love.
I hold that morality is culturally and societally determined. There is no good war, or bad peace. I have no time to detail my views on murder or abortion except to say I could see times where both may be necessary. They are clearly not good things, as I am sure you agree. Still, I cannot say I would not accept either in certain circumstances. As for epistomological basis, I have read three versions of the Bible, the Quran, the Bhagavad Gita, the Dhamma Pada, and many other Spiritual texts. The faith that is closest to my heart is the traditional one. The specific traditional one does not matter, as they all seem to share virtually identical outlooks.
The spiritual ways of the people around the world that predate the ritualized, dogmatic, exclusive, organized ones such as Protestantism, etc.
