All the politicians are questioning what went wrong, offering their pearls of wisdom on the matter. They wont get it though, they have been told many times but still they just don't get it.

i don't think there are any politicians i know of who have really got what i would call a varied life of different experiences from which to draw wisdoms, however, it was quite refreshing to watch Harriet Harman and that pompous ass, Michael Gove talking... i was very pleasantly surprised by what she had to say...

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/wintour-and-watt/2011/aug/10/michaelgove-harrietharman

BUT, she didn't mention police brutality as the flashpoint and driving force... only time will tell i suppose as to what will out...

the police would've been armed because they had information the guy had a weapon on him or they knew he did have a gun on him. he could have aimed at them or he could have just sat there with it in his pocket... who knows.

It's obvious, really. Just give the rioters various types of psychedelics until they find the one they really like and that'll probably keep them busy.

It's funny that they try and use politics and religion and entertainment and lies and violence to control us when drugs would do the job so much better.

lol.... know what you saying but i think psychedelics would be better employed if used by the authorities instead, might be a humbling experience for them...

Funny thing, if the UK hadn't outlawed guns, there would have been MUCH less private property damage. In parts of the US, I think every shop owner would camp behind the counter with a 12ga, and any punk who touched their windows would get a facefull of rocksalt. There would be riots, but I think.

I say that without knowing if this happened in LA in the 90s, but I know if I had a business and there where riots, I would be borrowing a gun and video camera, posting a "will be shot" sign, and shooting as necessary. (ideally just to warn....)

I wonder if security cameras have been targeted? I haven't seen anything on that. Maybe they don't report on that, it would call attention to the fact that people don't like being spied on when they're trying to take a shit....

    What this guy said.

(don't you remember telling me that I was full of shit, about psychedelics being the cure for this bullshit? :p )

Problem with that is that the looters have access to them as well.

I gotta say that while this started as a protest, it's just descended into mindless looting and rioting. All that this has done is to encourage the police to be more violent in the future towards legitimate protesters, and it has turned the public against the idea of civil unrest as a form of protest. These looters are just criminals, insulting the good name of the Protest :(

Unless you've got all out civil war (in which case I don't sympathize with the government, to have pushed it THAT FUCKING FAR, even if I don't like the other side either) rioters will not take guns.

    Why?

Think about it. If you have a gun, police will shoot to kill. Every crime you commit will be super-uber-aggrivated and send you to the big house for ever and then some. Other civilians will shoot you in defense or fear. You can't riot with guns, you'll just get shot. But you CAN defend your property.

Incindiary bombs, smoke grenades, etc, are great riot tools because you can't really justify shooting someone with lead for using them. You can hurt them badly or kill them, but you can't bring out the real guns without being crucified. If you throw a flaming bottle you're a lot harder to justify killing than if you're shooting lethal projectiles at police. They're in fire retardent crap (that also conveniently hides their identity) anyway, maybe it's happened but I've never heard of riot police getting burned to death. It's mostly just fun to watch them scramble :D

Also, I think looting is a totally respectable form of protest, so long as it's only directed at police stations. I'd like me a police scanner.... And a riot shield of my very own would be swell too.

Maybe so, but these looters weren't targeting police stations, they were targeting shops. No respectable protester would loot shops, as all you would be doing is turning the public against you.

I wouldn't mind looting a police station though. Think of all the wonderful evidence lying about in there, just longing to be smoked :D

Guru "Cock Piss" Cameron has promised to heal "Broken Britain"

Drugs gets a mention in here, but as "addiction". I'm guessing legalising marijuana isn't going to get much consideration..
