Liverpool is raging, as far as I can tell from reports. Police vastly outnumbered.

I guess you can only point so many cameras at people and take so many privileges and watch them with so many magnifying glasses before they get pissed.

Now I'm fucking pissed off. You don't endanger/damage a library, we owe the libraries everything as the one civic institution that lifted people away from their ignorant beginnings. That is too far for me, I'm starting to wish this would stop. Or at least become more focussed.

The anarchists always tell us that when the revolution happens, people will storm the abandoned universities and start teaching free classes, they'll storm the library and take it back as their own, and they'll only burn police stations the brits need some educating on what to do once you actually have a chance at power. This could be revolution in england.... and it could have been a good one, but it's not, so far. And if you have a burning shit style revolution, you go down as a douche and are shot by US spec ops, if you set up shop in the abandoned university it's a lot harder to paint you as a bad guy.

All of this is certainly none of my "business", in southern USA; but, as a mother (seeing those young men out there risking their very lives over WHAT!?) and a human being, this just makes me sick sick sick. They need to STOP all this. But at this point,...I'm not seeing any way that this is ending well. It makes me almost hurt inside.

At the risk of sounding woo-woo, I cannot help but wonder if this a sign of things/times to come.

 

Well, they seem to have made the decision that it's better to risk it than keep doing what they where doing.....

Of course there might have been better ways to solve the problem, like their parents and parents parents, etc, not selling out the country.... Or taking some time and putting some thought into fixing it. But the fact that most people run on emotion and mob psychology and just break things worse instead of fix them is how the problem got this bad in the first place:sunny:

 

i was listening to a lad who came on a local radio show last night... i think it was radio london 94.9fm he illustrated very succinctly how articulate some of these youths are... they not just yobs out for a looting.... they have a serious mssg for us... he was talking about the closures of basic and essential things there to help them get on their feet... youth clubs, employment assistance... youth stuff... that and the attitude of the police... the constant stop and search... the way they are perceived by joe public... they have had ENUF!!! i may have said this already....

 

maybe that's why we haven't heard owt from "Oh bumma"...

 

I hope there isn't another Kent State type event across the ocean...
