Quite a long list for me and I doubt I'll remember everything, but let's see.

I'm going to cut down the list by just including places/events where I left my shoes at home, and so I enjoyed a lot of barefoot walks and bus and train journeys barefoot as a result.

Cinemas, pubs, zoos, country hikes, parties (house parties and parties in town), shopping of all sorts, university including lectures and exams, played football barefoot both indoors and outdoors, bus journeys, train journeys, music festivals, orchestra/band rehearsals, even informal concerts - I think that covers most things.

Also spent most of my time barefoot when I went over to Holland last summer for the North Seas Jazz festival including a fun trip barefoot around Amsterdam, and the entire plane and coach journey home. Also spent most of my time barefoot camping in a field for a weekend about a year ago, went with shoes on as it was pouring with rain, took them off when the rain stopped shortly after I got there and didn't put them on again until a couple of days after I got back.

I'm barefoot for over 7 1/2 years so I've gone barefoot lots of places :) Stores and restaurants of course, malls, trains and busses, three different places of work (office job at an ISP, outdoor job at a history theme park, and one winter I briefly worked in a factory packing stuff), churches, people's homes of course, hospital (only visited, fortunately :)), doctor's office, dentist, once to a funeral home + graveyard, museums, zoos... Living in the Netherlands I rarely have to deal with people trying to tell me I can't be barefoot anywhere, although it is extremely rare to see anyone barefoot and I do get loads and loads of comments... even have people offering me shoes, socks and money in winter (sometimes I do look pretty dirty and poor, we do some maintenance at work in March/April and of course I don't wear my best clothes for that... but also been offered money while dressed really nicely from the ankle up.. people just don't look any further!).
I don't travel a lot, furthest I've been in the past eight years is Belgium, by train, but I am planning a trip to Schotland come summer. Sax-Machine, may I ask what airline you flew? I know it's no guarantee, I've heard plenty of people who've been doing business with some store or other place for years and suddenly run into some busybody who takes it upon himself to try and make us wear shoes, however it'd still be nice to know where you could fly barefoot :)

I am always barefoot while at home. I work in a factory, so Steel toe boots are required. :(
I have gone barefoot to Albertsons Grocery Store, Big Lots (discount store) Payless Shoe Source, Walked a 2 mile waterfront, Video store, Grandy's Lounge while playing pool. I went barefoot one day at my old Job in a Medical clinic. We weren't seeing patients that day. Just did filing, and computer maintence.
Everywhere else I go, I go with Flip Flops.

Im surprised you can go barefoot in shopping malls, most seem to require shoes and shirt.

    Hello Myranya,

Regarding your question about flying, I've flown barefoot several times into, out of and within the UK.

I flew British Midland to and back from Amsterdam last Summer with no problems at all.

I flew British Airways from Aberdeen (Scotland) to London and between London and Oslo (Norway) also with no problem.

However, I was once told (quite politely) by a stewardess when I attempted to board a British Airways flight from Alicante (Spain) back to London that I could not board without shoes.

I chose not to make an issue of the fact that I had flown out barefoot without any fuss and just said I'd slip some flip flops on. I did this, walked up the 'gangplank' onto the plane where I then took the flip flops straight off again and put them back in my bag which I stowed in the ovehead locker. I remained barefoot for the rest of the flight and disembarked barefoot. Nothing more was said.

I reckon it is almost certainly luck on the day. If you get somebody pedantic on duty they will make a fuss. Most of the time though I'm sure you wont have any problems.

Good luck & have a safe and enjoyable trip ! :)
