I agree it is an amazing book. I finished it just a few weeks ago. Its is extrremely well written and just is an amazing read. It is a must read.
Heyhey, got it for Christmas as well and can't wait to read it! I've got it in English though and hope it's not too difficult...
it's about the tragic sinking of a cargo ship, after which a solitary lifeboat is all that remains on the Pacific. It occupants - the only survivors from the wreck - are a sixteen-year-old boy (Pi) a hyena, a zebra (with a broken leg), a female orang-utan, and a 450-pound Royal Bengal tiger. it gets even crazier...it's superb.
it was kinda hard for me to get into but i loved it. the weird island sounds lik the coolest place in the world
A friend keeps trying to get me to read it but I got it and wasn't that interested because it was hard to get into but I shall try again.
I had this book sitting on my shelf for a few months and finally decided to read it this summer.... and it is So. Bloody. Good! At the moment he's on the weird island with Richard Parker. For those who haven't yet read it, beware of page 125 and the first turtle dinner, especially if you're vegetarian or squeamish!
Sitting on the shelf behind me, but I'm currently reading 4 different books at the same time. One on Chaos, one by the Dalai Lama, one on back roads in my state, and a Dilbert book.
NO ONE REVEAL THE ENDING!!! I see there are alot of people who have just started reading this masterpiece, so no one tell them the ending where Richard Parker morphs into a robot and flies himself and Pi to the land of narnia where they battle trolls and become the new rulers. And Pi finds the true meaning of christmas... Okay, so that's not the ending, but you'll love it when you read it.
Yeah, I thought I started this thing... Oh well. All are welcome! Especially when it comes to conversing about such a great book.
Well I read it yesterday. This books claims that it will make you believe in God. Sorry, I don't get it. It was all right, but I was expecting to learn some jems of wisdom. As an adventure story it was okay, that's it. This is not a keeper for me.
i thought it was a very disturbing book i wasnt prepared at all for some of the graphic mental images i had to reread the first part of the book again when i was done. i didnt get the whole, this book will make you believe in god thing either, i didnt find it spiritually uplifting in the least.
There's so much I picked up from reading this book. Ideas, thoughts. When I read it initially I didn't say "Ah - that's an incredibly interesting idea, I think I'll incorporate it into my belief system" but the second time I read it I kept on saying "Ah, so that's where that thought came from!" I also loved the Truth About The Helsinki Roccamatios. If you loved Life of Pi, you'll love it.
This is an awesome book, not only a very gripping and exciting plot line, but also very well written and with a clever philosophical message
Life of Pi is wonderful. I've read it at least 3 times and enjoyed every minute. Martel's other books are wonderful as well, and I'd recommend those to anyone who enjoyed Pi.
